TripleHate33 I played this game,and watched the movie also. All's I can say that,is the games' own storyline was written a little different than the movie. Now,that's very strange when George Lucas could've written both with the same storyline. Another strange thing is,George Lucas seems to have written the trilogies backwards."Episodes 4,5,& 6" first. Then "Episodes 1,2,& 3" next. Now the one George Lucas worked with is writing "7,8,& 9". And also,a movie known as "Rogue One", that reveals a Back Story of A New Hope has been made. Gosh...Star Wars has become a very well loved franchise!!

Lol only place you find killer gonk droids that shoot you as well. And yes the jawas just happened to keep a hideous lava beast in their smelting pit (I’m been charitable with the smelting pit, as I think it’s just a random pool of lava that’s there just cos...)

I love watching these videos of old games, because they evoke an almost "sixth sense". A sense that really brings back all sorts of thoughts, feelings, memories, and sensations of when I was young in the 90's. This reminds me of how relaxing and stress-free childhood was... saturday morning cartoons, trips to toys r us, watching basketball NBA games on a hot lazy sunday afternoon with my family... days we can't get back.. This video in particular reminds me of when I was starting to get into star wars... I was obsessed with R2D2.. loved him. Just the calmness of an old galaxy in the middle of no where in the desert.. great times.

It's like in Sonic 2, you don't immediately rush to the Death Egg, you immediately rush Super Sonic to make the first playthrough where you beat the game the easiest possible.

For those of you having problems with this game there is a trick to easily farm 99 lives. The catch is you have to make it to level 5 where you fight the sand people and meet Obi-Wan. When you make it to the second floating rock section jump into pit while hugging the left side of the cliff. You will find a hidden cave. Shoot all over the place in this cave to make a bunch of lives appear. Then jump into the pit to lose a life and respawn. The checkpoint is right at the top of this cliff so you can immediately repeat the process over again until you max out your lives count. I did this and made beating the game a lot less frustrating since I had as many chances as needed to learn the levels.

i haven't managed to find anyone anywhere mention about the max weapon at the very beginning of the game. don't head right, head left and you farm the scorpions over and over and keep getting weapon boosts. you can get the lightsaber before even starting the game proper. i'm legitimately shocked i havent found a single mention of this.

I've tried the strategy before and the catch is that you have to kill the banthas with your blaster, which is a pain in the ass (you'd be dying a lot).

The force was really strong with this game damn it was hard without mercy but still awesome game

Wait is it that hard ? I beat the game as a kid on multiple occasions, I thought most people beat it too.

This game is like Super Ghouls N Ghosts; every inch of the game is a battle. I used to rent this game when it came out and I loved it even though it is brutally hard.

This was a game from my childhood. Used to spend summer days playing it consistently. Because it didn't have passwords like the other 2 Super Star Wars games, you had to memorize the early levels and get better at rushing through them. There was a bit of trial and error involved with reaching the later levels before you got tired and had to shut the SNES off. There's a couple hard parts before you get to the lightsaber and find the trick where you can get to 99 lives with the secret cave, after that the rest of the game gets much harder. I remember beating it when I was 16 and what a feeling that was to finish this game after so much trial and error and memorizing the levels. This was the kind of difficult game that was rewarding and a real challenge to master and beat.

Holy shit, this game is way more badass than the original movie -Luke's first major action, rather than bitching about staying on another harvest, is to kill a Sarlacc single-handed. -The Jawas are zealots of the evil technophagous god Jawenko, who dwells inside the mobile sandcrawler fortress and spews lava for his defense -Obi-wan is actively hiding in a cave from the sand people and their explosive Banthas -Luke gains Han's respect by just slaughtering every guy in the bar who looks at him wrong, including the giant monster they keep as a bouncer -Mos Eisley has a secret killer robot factory under its surface, and there is no way to get to Docking Bay 94 except through it -The Falcon willingly diverts to the Death Star because SNES Han has balls the size of mangoes -Chewie straightup jumps over like 50 TIE fighters until they run out of them in the hangar -The most common defensive measure on the detention level are crushers, meaning Han trekked through miles of pureed Bothan to get his slampiece out -Rather than swinging just one piss-poor chasm, Luke and presumably Leia make an unassisted multi-thousand-foot climb up the Death Star interior to shut off the tractor beam themselves by shooting it until it breaks -Obi-wan doesn't visibly die, meaning he might still be wrecking shit on the Death Star when it blows up -Luke's X-wing is the only one we see at the Death Star, meaning he took on the entire Imperial defense grid alone and won I wish this was the movie I'd seen growing up.

Took me a long time to beat it myself; I've always had trouble with the last stretch of the sandcrawler level, jumping to the platforms, always ending up in the lava and having to restart from the automated last saved position...

this one, and Super Return of the Jedi are both in my top 20 snes games. they are freakin great, and a lot of fun. both are very beatable on easy. Super Empire Strikes back however, is way way harder than those 2, but i've beat it as well on easy. so hard, but a lot of fun, and also a great game. hell of a trilogy. best star wars games ever in my opinion

Frickin loved this game... ugh. So much nostalgia. It reminds me of my early days in the early 1990s first discovering Star Wars.

Herb Toker oddly,,as much as I've played this game as a kid,it wasn't an easy one to play. Almost looks as if this long play video could've been tool assisted. When I played Super Star Wars,Empire,and Return of the Jedi,it always required a vast level of concentration,or else I'd lose... surely,none of my characters were invincible.

As a 32 year old who recently found a cart of this game, I can verify: It's still hard as fuck haha.

While it wasn't my introduction to Star Wars, it did make me gain enough interest to watch the movie, and I became a fan ever since. Thank You, JVC, LucasArts, Sculptured Software and Nintendo for making such a fantastic game!

I like how the sandcrawler has all kinds of random things that shoot lasers for absolutely no reason lol.

As long as you remember Luke fighting a lava monster inside a sandcrawler, I'd say you're good.

You are the envy of every single player who had to replay this for days just to beat it.

Gotta love how one of the stages is literally just about Luke hunting down and murdering a certain number of Jawas.

So many anxious memories flood back when I hear the music and sounds from this game

I remember being BLOWN AWAY at the beautiful graphics- I loved how when you were in the land speeder the town would get bigger.

Omg the music and sound effects are incredible for this game!

I love the lightsaber moves with the white swish effect! It's looks anime to me

I LOVED this game...and then Empire Strikes Back came out and it was like, I didn't know it could get any better!

This is the only good memories I have off my Father was me and him sitting playing this.

What is most amazing and I was personally amazed at is the fact that this boy after he killed many bandits and went away into the desert and then suddenly he met a grandfather with an intelligent face completely unscathed 0_O

wow, the snes star wars games have some awesome graphics, and flawless sound(sounds just like star wars) people forget these when it comes to snes's run n gun catagory. the 2 turrican games as well

This game has some really great sprite work, music, and is a work of art. Easily one of my favorite games in the SNES library along with Return and Empire. They all really piss me off though, this one especially.

I remember my dad going to the US (we're from India) in the 90's for a conference and he bought this game, not knowing that what we had at home was an NES (clone) system. The game cartridge is still in its original box with the manual booklet and by the time getting an SNES system was feasable, most were simply playing ripped ROMs on emulators on PCs.

Did not get past the hanger bay. And that was after multiple attempts to even get there. Good to see this game finished. Another example of an overly hard game unless you grind out where everything is in each level.

I still remember this as the toughest game I ever played growing up. I could rarely get past the cantina brawl, and never got to the death star. I was pretty stubborn as a six year old, but I eventually gave up.

Yes... Episode I would probably have Obi-Wan and Padme as playable characters, with the former using his lightsaber and force powers while the latter uses her blaster to deal with enemies. In Episode II, Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan are all playable, with some levels giving players the ability to choose which character they want to play as. And in Episode III, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Master Yoda would be playable, with each having unique Force powers.

my mother got me this game because she knew I loved Star Wars. I was a young SGT. in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and after work I would spend hours playing this game to unwind from all the violence. Its funny what a video on KZread can help you remember.

I had to collect 98 extra lives. In the hidden cave 5 mission to beat it..never could have done it with just a few continues

I played this game all the time back in the day! It gave me anxiety but dammit I loved the sounds and level designs!

I quit video games after I beat this one back in the day. I realized you spent 1/3 of your life sleeping and other 2/3 playing video games not including , eating going to the bathroom, showering, stuck in traffic, working , so I decided to live.

Welp, we got a prototype of an unreleased Genesis port of this, with the Cantine music playing in almost every level.

I'm assuming they used that song as a placeholder for most of the stages until the actual songs were completed Remember, the thing is some prototypes that have the full game on them have the chance of some things being either missing or broken, because the devs most likely canned the game at an unexpected time. (Good example of this would be the prototype of South Park on GBC, the entire game was on the ROM, but some stages didn't work properly)

Prehistory of video games hurted the eyes A LOT!

Gameplay was just brutal. So needlessly difficult. Legend has it no one has ever made it to the top of that sandcrawler...Terrific graphics and sound/music though! Nostalgia abound...

Super Star Wars was re-released in November 1996 as part of Nintendo's Player's Choice series. In February 1997 in order to coincide with the "Special Edition" of those films appearing in theaters. The game was re-released again in 1998. The re-release is identical to the original version.

Player is a accurate precise and calm! Especially on the edges that tend to make us twerk out thinking we shall fall lol. Good playing.
