(en ik heb heel veel video's over hout gedeeld - vertrouw me) Ik zou graag dezelfde informatie willen als een van de andere posters. (alle materialen zijn redelijk goed rechttoe rechtaan kan zonder al te veel problemen worden gerepliceerd, maar ik zou graag willen weten waar de vliegwielen, tandheugel en pinon vandaan kwamen. I did some research & I started with the rack & pinion, the set I looked at were from the gear company here in Canada called Martin, part #'s are S412 for the pinion gear, and RA4x4 for a 4' long rack. These are not cheap, $306.10 for the pinion gear & $654.75 for a 4' rack. These do look to be a heavier duty set though. So if a guy wanted to build one of these, unless you can find the rack & pinion off a used piece of equipment it won't be cheap. I didn't even bother getting a price for the flywheels.Then there's all the other components. I may end up purchasing one unless I can source the parts elsewhere.

Did you found some cheaper alternative for rack & pinion? There are these guys www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Parts-Kit-RACK-PINION-for-Timber-Champ-7-Ton-Log-Splitter-SHIPS-FREE-/292988063364 , but they are not shipping to Europe. You might have better chances in Canada...

the most worrisome thing is the uncovered flywheels. the other concerns are not valid. This design has been around and use tested for almost a hundred years. accidents are few.

I'd like the same information too please. ( all of the materials are pretty well straight forward can be replicated without too much trouble, but I'd like to know where the flywheels, rack & pinon came from. Great video Thanks for posting.

@@littlewingpilot There are some manufacturares which claim they use 2x22kg flywheels. These seem even heavier, based on the size. I've decided for cutting them on cnc and giving them to somebody to cut a slight groove on a lathe for the belt. Also the keyhole needs to be cut. For now I' looking for a pinion here in Europe...

Hoi Carl, Ik heb alles zelf gemaakt, behalve de tandheugel 40 x 40 en het daarbij behorende tandwiel, dat is besteld bij Kramp, je kunt het ook elders kopen. Groeten Jan van Maaswaal
