Sneaky Device Tricks with Samsung SmartThings! || Hidden Tips and Tricks Part 2
Let's get more from Samsung SmartThings as I take you through little tips and tricks or hacks with your SmartThings smart home. Today's video includes a number of devices that you'll want to look at, plus some additional ways to use those devices.
This means that we'll be extending outside of just Samsung SmartThings and into the voice assistants from Google and Amazon. Both the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa can be used in really unique ways with lots of the devices you have, especially if those smart home gadgets are coming from someone like ‪@PhilipsHueofficial‬, ‪@SwitchBotOfficial‬, TP-Link or Kasa, ‪@sonos‬, Smart Life or Tuya, or other makers that you know and love and work with #SmartThings.
We'll also work with Android Auto, explain a little bit about that SmartThings ecosystem and how we're still waiting on devices from ‪@Atrim‬, and even some tips and tricks about scenes and automations in your #smarthome.
Oh, you might need that Hub if you can't find it. So here: geni.us/AeotecSmartThingsHub (Amazon affiliate link) or here: popp.to/?ref=AYL (affiliate link) and use code AUTOMATEYOURLIFE for 2% off
The other Aeotec Sensors are now available too, here:

Yet another useful and informative video, Brian. You're putting in a lot of research/effort into this and is shows. I have one comment about multiple hubs. You can use a hub and a handful of sensors to monitor for normal motion in your parents' home or a home that you're watching for a traveling friend or the home of a friend living alone and recovering from surgery or an illness. I think you could set the hub up at your house and go ahead and pair the sensors you'll be using and then be able to quickly set them up somewhere else and just switch the hub to their WiFi. There are a lot of possibilities, But we still have a big duplicates problem with Alexa and that takes managing. Thanks again, Brian.

I'm not sure which video it was but you did show a motion sensor triggered the nest hubs to show video from the door ahead of the doorbell being pressed. I don't see on how to do that myself and wondered if you might be able to provide some insight on where to look to get that to function. I am also in Canada and I'm not sure if that's why I am not seeing the ability because something has not been enabled.

If you have devices on native apps (ie Tuya, Kasa) and linked with SmartThings, and SmartThings skill 3nabled in Alexa, is there any benefit to having the native app skill enabled in Alexa?

Sometimes it's a little quicker, because you're not having to go through 2 cloud services (SmartThings, vendor)

I need to specifically purchase a Zigbee wall light switch + outlet. I found one from the BSEED brand but I don't know if it is compatible with SmartThings. It just says it works with Smartlife and Tuya. How can I know that?

Yeah I wasn't super clear there. There's a few options but I did make it sound a bit too easy. Stick it in a room and change the name of the room to something random or stick it in a room to see the job you have left. I also tend to move them to new locations/homes in the app to gain some separation

Hopefully one day that ability will be added as I would feel it's quite handy. Keep up the great work with the videos

Do you have any advice for someone that has been desperately trying to connect the switchbot mini hub to my erro pro router with 3 other repeaters that gives a strong signal all around the house. I have turned off the 5gh antenna and checked the usual suspects like not putting in the right password…tried emailing switchbot tech support nothing seems to work. I have many connected smart devices that work flawlessly….this switchbot mini hub has been a real challenge for me.

Hey Jerry - I'd try dropping a bunch of stuff off your network. It really shouldn't be a problem at all to get that connected so if you're having trouble like this, it's probably not worth much more than that. Then just get SwitchBot to send you a replacement, which I think they'd do. But ya, drop a BUNCH off...just turn all your other stuff off and reboot your eeros and then let's see.
