@@yourflyisopen There we’re actually two reasons. That one and because he knew Snape’s interest in the dark arts since he was a student. That is, before he quit the death eaters and became a spy. It would’ve been too tempting yet too dangerous to have Snape in that position.

I like to believe Snape and Filch both started off nicer, perhaps genuinely hoping to have a place to call home.Then after years of little shits and Buffoonery by students and even other staff like the defense against the dark arts teachers, he became just done with everything.I personally believe he locks himself in his room each night, playing his favourite music and knocking back a few cocktails, while throwing darts at pictures of the students he hates the most.

Absolutely not. No one else could have played Snape as well as Alan, and no one else ever will.

Anyone else realize how snape just hates sunlight. If he’s at a quidditch tournament then it doesn’t matter because he’s there to watch the sport, But when he’s teaching he doesn’t want ANY distractions. Honestly… same.

Umbridge - laughing Snape - stop laughing until I will break your bridge. 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, one of the wasted characters. Like...he was basically Darth Vader of Harryverse. But we all know what kind of a beast Vader was. Snape was totally another story. We know he could have easily beaten Harry, we know he could have flied without a broom, we know he could have easily created new spells. And that was it. In fact, I literally wanted to see him beating the tar out of Darth Volder. Or some Death Eaters. But heck, even in the alternate dark timeline in the "Cursed Child" he was wasted. Best he did was creating Patronus to allow Scorpius escape. And then he just let the Dementors eat him while he could have easily defeated all of them and take on the whole bunch of Death Eaters before going out with a boom. Honestly, I can speak for hours how much of a badass he had potential to be. Too bad Alan Rickman will never hear this. His portrayal of Snape was the best.

With all his flaws and his status as a morally grey character, Snape is still the bravest man and the most well-written character in HP for me. His dedication is on another level. He doesn't need people's validation to acknowledge his redemption and sacrifice. He only shows his true intention to Dumbledore and maybe Harry (when he gives his memories after gettin bitten by nagini) If fans can forgive James's past actions, why can't they forgive Severus? Both are flawed, both change. Even though Snape chooses a kind of "questionable" path of redemption (still exhibiting trash behaviours like being rude to innocent kids, exposing Lupin, etc.) but, at least, he tries his best to protect Harry even in the most undesirable ways Without Severus Snape (and Dumbledore as well), the whole story of Harry Potter will be just plain. Through Snape and Dumbledore characterization, Rowling tells us that we do not need to be a perfect, flawless, and holy saint to do good

I don't see how snape is morally Grey he was against murder and stood for discipline and hard work and always stood up to protect the greater good. He was a man's man. He literally sacrificed himself and stood in the shadows to bring voldemort down. Snape is a legend.

I can see where you’re coming from in some aspects but he wasn’t entirely pathetic and he lived a life inflicted with pain and trauma, he is a very two-sided person and I, being quite an evaluative person can look at him for both his moral and immoral actions in life, his devotion to the death eaters is questionable but regardless I only see him as a fictional character with the good and the bad to him with a story to tell. It’s a fantasy series about a magical school fighting against malevolent forces it’s not suppose to be political lol
