Now 6 years later i finally found my purpose in life and have been going after my dreams, goals and my vision. Life is a journey. It's obvious to people like you and I that those that hit it big only got there because the owners of the industry chooses who will. It all comes down to who is promoted most. The more the industry pushes certain artists, the more they will be accepted. I'm convinced that people will like whatever is fed to them as long as the music is relatable, catchy, recorded/mixed well, and the singer has a decent voice. There are tons of great artists that fit this model and never get the same recognition as those that are chosen by the industry to advance. Tinashe and FKA Twigs are examples of amazing artists who's record label chooses not to promote them as they deserve.

Don't know why I'm saying this to a stranger but once in a while I like to go back to this song and just daydream about how good it was when this song was released. This song was on loop at my local radio station since it was on the chart at the time. This song was also the epitome of my highschool years. Getting wasted, being a brat, trying a lot of new things, clubbing all weekend, and afterwards me and the boys would just go for a late night drive around town. We like to talk shit about how highschool sucks and we can't wait for college, but I think we all know deep down we don't want this to end. The last day of highschool we dicked around town, stealing traffic cones while getting drunk. We went back home after 3AM and I think life was never really the same ever since. 8 years later and a lot has happened. I moved out of the country, while some of us stayed and got a corporate job. Some are going to get married soon, while one had to cancel his wedding due to some disagrement between their parents. Lots of our parents passed away and for me this is always a crazy experience since I knew most of them quite well and would never think they passed away this soon. Every time I go back home I always try to meet with the boys, but it's all work talk now. But once in a while, the conversation took us to a nostalgia trip back in highschool. We ended spending hours and hours just replaying some dumb shit that one of us did in highschool. We don't really get to talk much these days, especially with me whos living in a completely different time zone, but I like how if we meet it stays exactly the same. I know it's going to get even lonelier and even more depressing soon but I think many of us just needed that moment in time you know, to just kinda sit back and reminisce and just get lost in the memory.

This song always takes me back to being in my early 20's and going out to the clubs with the old crew- and reminds me that those "good" old days weren't as good as I remember them. I love that this song dared to tell the truth about the clubbing experience for a lot of people who (on the outside) look as if they're the happiest people in the world. I think that's why so many people loved this song when it came out- it felt like that comforting hand on the shoulder, that voice saying "I understand. Me too."

So true. Saw her live by complete chance a few months ago (scored free tickets) and it was absolutely incredible, one of the best concerts I'd been to in so long. Her talent and voice, performance, dancing is all there. She has talent and talent all surrounding her. Then, this song she did live and I was like "THATS HER?!"
