I wished I had watched this before I put the Nix into the distilled water! Not only did it overflow, but I was unable to shake the Nix and water together. Being a first time snake owner and finding out that your snake has mites, I found this video the most helpful out of all the research I did online.

Thank you for this. How can I feed my snakes while treating? This is the first time in 25 years that I had to deal with this. However, this method is definitely working.

Hey I have provent a mite but I wanna try this method because I agree Pam is a little harsh and I have around 80 ball pythons and unfortunately have to treat everyone so this method has never caused any problems or had any ill effects on any ball pythons you did this treatment with ?

Great video very informative. I am just curious as to how long you feel this "nix mix" will last after mixing before it loses its potency or stops being effective. Thanks

I believe if stored covered and away from light it should stay potent for at least 2-3 years.

Also do u recommend soaking each snake before doing this nix treatment or is that not necessary

What about if I’m buying my very first snake/reptile? Do I not need to bother spraying it for the quarantine preventative purposes but simply check it over for mites & keep my eyes out if I ever notice anything...?

Thanks for the upload. I just brought a boa home that has mites. Gonna try this method, wondering how long the diluted solution can be stored for? I probably wont use much because I only have 3 snakes

i have a question shouldnt the water bowl be added 24 hours later ? and should the water bowl be sprayed with nix also ?
@pwilliams58
7 жыл бұрын
24 hours would be a little excessive. You can leave it out however long you feel comfortable with, while not depriving the snake of water for too long. Because I use the PVC coupler/deli cup method for water bowls, I feel like a quick wash with scalding water is enough to knock any mites off of the very smooth surface, and of course you'd use a fresh deli cup when you put the water back in. I would avoid spraying the dish, just makes me paranoid getting chemicals near the snakes drinking water. The sides of the dish would likely get some on it anyways from the snake moving around and rubbing against it. This also means it would transfer some into the water itself so changing every day is preferable.

Can I use this method on hatchling snakes for prevention? About 7 months old? I know many methods are too harsh for smaller or younger snakes.

I'm not sure about this product on hatchling, but I know if your snake is under 200 grams, using a hand sanitizer application directly or dipping them in a dawn dish soap and water solution will help!
