SMX: Envirovent Crank Case Ventilation System

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video Corey covers the basics of Crank Case Ventilation and shows us how to install our SMX Envirovent System. The Envirovent system is simple, adaptable, and easy to maintain. It solves a lot of the issues with other more complex CCV systems. Best of all, replacement filters and parts are cheap and readily available.

Really enjoy these videos and products made by you guys such as this and the dual fuel filter filtration kit. I wanted to add that for someone like myself who doesn’t have the available space to move the remote oil filter they have another alternative although it isn’t a cheap one. The crankcase can also be vented from the valve cover with a dual valve cover breather that I believe originates from the agricultural engines. Since the engine is then being ventilated from its highest point, less oil/oil vapors should be visible in the catch bottle. If the engine has a high amount of hours and or blow-by they can run two of these valve cover on cylinders 2-3 and 4-5. These valve covers are now common used on high performance builds with larger/greater than factory piston ring clearance.

Just installed your CCV system on my 6bt today. The mechanic who did the inspection and recommended walker airseps was impressed by your solution. Especially the timing cover vent. I don’t like the puke bottle location on the port motor, very inconvenient. I moved mine further aft so I can access easier. It’s still the lowest part of the system. Simple system 1/3 the cost on new walker is a win

Do you have experience with aqua drive? I’m thinking a level engine may help.

I think that pipe is way to small a bore for that engine, hence the extra filter up near the front of the engine?

Hello can you please explain what is the purpose of the air filter that comes off the timing cover, Why not exclude the filter completely and have the hose from the timing cover go directly to the air filter via the sludge container? Regards James

Good question. The idea behind this smaller filter is to serve as a vacuum break. That is, we don't want the turbo to "suck" on the Crank Case Cavity which could encourage even more blow by. It can really create quite a vacuum particularly if the main air filter gets dirty. That said, with very high hour, high blow by engines, the volume coming out of the Crank Case can exceed the volume of air being pulled through the hose, in which case, its fine to do exactly as you describe.
