What sucks is that these people aren’t the most accurate portrayal of weed users but they’re the most outward facing, so people think that ALL weed users are like this. It’s like believing that all people who drink alcohol act like frat boys. Weed makes dumb people appear dumber but there are tons of intelligent people who use it without anybody ever knowing

There are a lot of things that are cheesy to base your entire personality around, even a music scene (as much of us did when we were young). Stoners are definitely cringy, but a hell of a lot more tolerable than people who base their personalities around politics or religion.

You know, at 40, my life has become almost blissful on the boomer lifestyle plan, so I think they might be onto something. I go to bed by 10, wake up at 5, exercise, stopped drinking and that feels nice, have an awesome wife who’s my “bff” and two young kids who are just super fun (even when they’re a pain in the ass, it’s still fun and we can’t help but chuckle at them-because boomers are also good at chuckling). Don’t worry, I have no habits of mild bigotry and I don’t like Facebook, Trump or liver and onions.

Im in my 30’s and I work all the time to pay the rent for my wife and kids. Sitting in a living room of an apartment with friends smoking weed and having a little to drink sounds like HEAVEN. I’m waiting for my kids to grow up so I can do just that. ❤️

Right? I'm also in my late 30's. Just smoke out and chill at the end of a long day or weekend. Don't know why Fin stepped in this one. It helps with my RLS,ADD, bipolar and anxiety. Don't drink as much and moods have been stable. I get it shouldn't be your identity but I can think of a million worse things to harp on. Like how everyone thats into MMA/BJJ also makes it part of their f*kn identity.

Weed used to be my personality, for like 3 years, when I was 18. And it was cringe then, imagine at 30-40 lol I still smoke, but is just like having a beer after work on friday or something. But as a former alcoholic, weed saved my life. I was able to quit drinking because of it. I kinda understand why people view weed the way they do, but its definetly overcompesating for something. Its normal if its just a phase, helped me a lot through some tough times, but when you make your life around it, you are loosing the battle just like any other addict, imo.

I’ve never seen anyone make it their personality, in my experiences it’s just adding to part of their personality, and helping people get comfortable in their personality. Most people I know are potheads to some extent and none of them have built their personality off of it, even the high schoolers who partake don’t, even if they wanna seem like it’s their personality

I’ve worked in the weed industry in Washington state for 10 years and I was in the black market before that. After meeting 1,000’s of stoners I’m sitting here scratching my head wondering who these people are Finn is talking about. The mythical “made it his personality” stoner type. The initial instinct I got about Finn (“this is the kind of guy who talks a lot but seems to not really have a firm grasp on some of the topics he speaks about.”) is once again validated lol. If you know someone like this it has nothing to do with weed. Note- I wrote this pretty early in the video and it literally just kept getting worse and worse. Jesus Finn is a back breaking cringe machine sometimes.

Totally agree that medical marijuana/cannabis products are a godsend, and a shame it's taken this long for idiot officials to allow its proper use. It really can make lives better for those w/ pain/nausea/seizures/etc. I've seen it w/ many of my patients. I smoke, and have been for a long time, and I agree with a lot of points. Just wanted to say that smoking by itself is not cringe, but making it your personality IS, I agree. Also most people don't smoke to be edgy.

I just quit smoking weed for New Year’s because I wasn’t getting high. It was a waste of money, I didn’t enjoy it anymore. It is a cringe culture and my lungs feel way better now. I agree with your opinion and I don’t know why people think it’s healthy, it causes cancer just burning it.

That’s exactly where I’d gotten. It doesn’t actually getting me high anymore. It just made me slow, irritable, dumb, and insatiable munchies. Which isn’t a good combination if you have stuff you need to do and especially if you’re trying to lose weight. I’m not able to smoke it without any guilt anymore. I haven’t done it at all since the end of December and I’ll probably be keeping it that way for a while. It kinda sucks that this thing that used to be really enjoyable isn’t anymore but in the meantime it’s just something I need to let go.

I can only speak for myself, and I agree with the "weed is not a personality" statement wholeheartedly, and I wouldn't write a song about it haha, but I smoke several times a day and work a professional corporate job, stay active with 3 dogs and an equally active wife, play music, play organized sports on the weekend, and live a very normal productive life. Nothing corny about smoking a joint with your best friend while you throw the ball for the dog and drink your coffee or cocktail before or after a long hard day. Do what you need to do to win the game every day. Finn, nothing but love, but just relax and take a rip or two.

I was 20 and would smoke with my boyfriend at the time. And start getting depressed. What am I doing with my life? I need to get my life together. We need to go to school/ trade school. I would spiral. My life was stagnant. Now I don’t smoke weed. Sounds like a nightmare thinking of the anxiety

The only way I was able to eat for 15 years was by smoking weed.

I feel like this is such a US issue! I live in the Netherlands and nobody here makes a big deal out of weed because it’s just so normal. Some people will have a beer to relax while other people will smoke a joint and nobody cares because it’s just not a big deal.

As a smoker for 10 years, 8 years daily. I agree with you Fin. It does not make your personality. But it definitely makes me a chill person. I don't brag about smoking either. But my honest opinion is, let people do what they want. Don't judge them just cuz they smoke weed.

I totally agree with you. I grew up with 2 parents that work hard everyday Made sure their kids were taken care of and then they would relax at the end of the night. The real way you're supposed to do it. That's the incentive behind it. Not smoking it all day like Snoop Dogg. You have to understand the science behind it to let it work for you and not take over you. It's like having a glass of wine at the end of a hard day. I like finn But this guy has no clue what he's talking about most of the time.

My theory is that weed was illegal for so long, and for so many generations people had parents and authority figures telling them to stay away from "the devil's lettuce," so they rebelled and made it their entire personalities as a way of saying "screw you" to authorities and parental figures.

I was a daily smoker for 5 years, just quit last year. I 100% agree that there are people that make weed their personality, however, that number is much lower than you’re making it out to be. I also agree that weed doesn’t make you more creative (scientifically speaking that’s not even how creativity works). It can make a jam session get a little out there, but it doesn’t literally create ideas. People definitely don’t talk about the negative parts of weed enough, and even while I was smoking, I didn’t like the “miracle drug” crowd that pretended that it helped with everything. Because, from personal experience, I’d you suffer from anxiety and depression, it can make it worse if you’re smoking all day every day. I say all of that to say, weed is what you put into it. It can be something that makes a gathering of friends really fun, but you probably shouldn’t be doing it to the point where you have to be high to do anything. Finn, I enjoy your videos and your takes, even when I disagree with them, but you can tell that you’ve never smoked from this video. No disrespect meant from that, I’m just saying this is a very outside-looking-in take.

​@luke5100 also he mainly talks about drinking too much, popping pills (probably uppers like Adderall), and doing bumps, which implies mainly coke and ket. A lot of those people have smoked weed maybe one time, and were like "mehh" and never like, got into it the way that the corny 420 crowd did. What I wonder is did Finn ever fw real psychedelics, which I feel like, kinda clicks together with weed to create a greater whole whenever you do ingest thc. Or is he like Eric Andre where the out of body aspect is less important than being like, High intensity and high frequency, and weed feels more like a hindrance to his chemical destination? 🤔

I don't smoke weed but I use to, a lot. A lot of this video seemed directed at what I've seen as California culture, or at least a sub culture of California that still somewhat exists (was huge in the 90s and 00s). I feel like you don't get it unless you were there pre-tech bro days (before the dark times). Only way I can explain is what Jeff Spicoli says in Fast Times- "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz-- and I'm fine"

I can give artists like Cypress Hill, Snoop and Sublime a pass because weed was talked about in their songs when they started out. It was always their personality. It's far more cringe when it's not what you're known for and you just decide to make it who you are out of the blue.

I smoked way too much weed all the way until i was 40. Started at 19. I was straight edge in hs and afterwoards went the complete opposite direction. Finally quit over just 2 1/2 years ago and don't regret it one bit.

He doesn't even plan on doing anything and if you ain't careful you'll end up just like him. Trust me, that's not somewhere you wanna end up. @@Roger-fs5yo Let me be real with you for a minute. If what you're saying is true, let me ask you a few quick questions. What was your buddies childhood like? What's their family like? What kind of trauma have they been through? What kind of support system, if any, do they have? Do they have any sort of mental health issues? Possibly undiagnosed they are living with? There's so many factors. There are losers that smoke weed, but nobody is a loser because they smoke weed.

To be fair, a TON of rappers and singers brag about xanax and lean. You could make a case that the entire genre of Chopped and Screwed is about codeine.

Finn, first off I'd like to say that I sincerely enjoy watching your content since I learn a lot in the process and I have to agree with most of the facts pointed out in this video however, there is also a vast majority of peeps who tend to keep it on a down low (btw I did kinda pause half-way into the video to write this comment so I'll just have to keep watching in case I missed anything that might resemble what I'm about to point out). With that being said, and also knowing that you enjoy listening to a lot of proper Thrash Metal music, tight Hardcore Punk and quality Death Metal; I hope you are aware that a lot of the top tier music that you enjoy was probably made by people who were legit using cannabis recreationally and it was probably a rather vital aspect of the 'ritual' process so to speak of making such sophisticated music. By no means am I saying that it's the primary reason or something. I know it's considered a low-life activity however I am just trying to point out that the reality of the matter is that it does contain certain properties that can enhance creativity etc. and this has actually been scientifically proven. p.s By no means am I advocating the use of drugs/narcotics (quite on the contrary), just pointing something out. :)

I think the point is that the people youre referring to do mostly keep it on the down-low, not make it their personality. I'm sure that, for example, Trey Azagthoth smoked weed like a chimney when he was writing those first 3 Morbid Angel albums and maybe they would have turned out different if he hadnt, but he didnt feel the need to make it all about that. Same could be said of a LOT of hardcore (new and old) and coke, but unless you knew you wouldnt necessarily make the connection.

As a 34 year old that has stopped been smoking weed after smoking since age 17 I totally fucking agree with everything you said in this video. So many of my friends have made weed and cocaine their entire personality. When you’re surrounded by weed, cocaine, alcohol it’s hard to not get fomo but you have to move on. It definitely holds you back, so much progress I’ve stunted myself from. You get over it, I hate that all my friends do cocaine; can’t do shit without a “sack” Ironically I’m from Anaheim so that KMK line hurt because I’ve always despised them with a passion lol

One counter point to something you said with regards to creativity. The devils lettuce hits the same serotonin receptor that shrooms and acid do, and when I gobble fungus and I'm in the post peak holy shit hyper connected mode I am better at everything, physical and mental. I've recorded my guitar playing, kept my journaling, and yes even one time tested my abilities at the shooting range ( I'm in remote southeast Alaska and was completely alone ) and the difference was fucking nuts.

For me its just for relaxation as i also do have adhd i know its not the best to medicate yourself (please kids don't) but yes it's definitely not a personality . Got to add im dutch so the stigma is a bit different here

When anything becomes practically your entire personality, it becomes a problem. I’ve seen this with queer folks, cannabis enthusiasts, lifestyle kink folks, and especially music fans!

As a 30 year old, who has smoked for the last 10+ years, I do resonate with this to a level. I’m beginning to learn. This is some thing that needs to be enjoyed in moderation as it has made me stagnant, and my ambition has suffered due to this habit. Once a Daily stoner now in the middle of a month-long dry January from alcohol and weed …the clarity is great I must say. Been digging this content lately Finn keep it up & I’ll keep watching! Ps. Still love smoking a little weed and playing my guitar. I must disagree to an extent and say that my melodies are pretty unmatched when I get a little stoned. The flow is just there.

Being in a band with potheads is even worse. One of my friends told me that her band almost didn't board the train they were supposed to take to a show because they literally smoked up before leaving for the train station.
