There are very less persons who are mangalik and thus sometimes treated as a little differently, especially in rural areas. so cigarettes are mangalik simply means stay away from them they are not suitable fro you...

It's all about genetics and luck , man! A person who is susceptible to heart disease or cancer gets it sooner or later. Smoking only works on that susceptibility and brings on the disease at a much earlier age. I personally know a 94 year old chess player who smokes no less than half a carton of cigarettes ( that's 100!) Each f***ing day! Believe it or not! And he is one of the healthiest people I know. My own 90 year old grandpa smoked heavily from his teenage years up until he was 89. He only stopped a 30 a day habit after a very mild ischemic attack ( that again , according to the doctor was more related to his age) of the heart last year. Yet, I see smokers in their 20s and 30s suffering massive heart attacks , and one unlucky guy I know was diagnosed with throat cancer at just 34. So, I am led to believe that genetics and environmental factors are the biggest game changers. Today's Indian youth, whether they smoke or not, breathe in highly polluted air, eat food which is rich in saturated fats, abuse their body through unhealthy competition at the work place due to stress and odd work hours and expect too much in too little time. Thus, they are much more susceptible to many diseases which we call smoker's diseases.

Well there is no proof that nicotine is harmful. The effects of nicotine itself are similar to that other popular drug, caffeine for example. The smoke is harmful not the nicotine guys.

"NO proof" ....."NO"......"NONE"??!! i am a doctor myself (meri zabaan pe mat jaana) and an occasional smoker. smoke contains quinones tat produce free radicals that cause empysema . the CO2 itself causes tracheal epithelial metastasis leading to lung carcinoma or fibrosis atleast The nicotine on prolonged use leads to dependence (withdrawl on quitting, headaches on a day without a smoke etc) ,tolerance (needing higer doses afterwards) .Also it leads to upregulation of N2 receptors which are also receive cholinergic drugs and neurotransmitters causing drowsiness, bronchospasms, uncontrolable defecationa and low BP. forgive my language at the start, but dont remain blind to the threats . Smoke but do so responsibly.

Secondly no direct studies has proven than smoking causes cancer ..only controlled observation studies in group of people not more than 100 at a time.Cancer is triggered by onco genes and no body knows how they are triggered that's why there is no treatment. A car exhaust with lead can cause cancer a simple chlorinated water can cause cancer...there is no certainty what ll cause the mutation. Same shit happened with marijuana and now they are legalising it why?
