Breakfast: it's the most important meal of the day right? Well we're also going to make it the most delicious by throwing it in the smoker! Today we're making this delicious smoked breakfast skillet on my @samthecookingguy 12-inch cast iron skillet for a breakfast that's out of this world delicious and super simple to make!
Recipe:
- Cook 1lb of breakfast sausage links directly on the smoker grates (could also use ground sausage in a pan)
- Roughly chop links and set aside
- In a mixing bowl mix 8 eggs with 1 tbsp salt, 1 tsp pepper (or more if you like), 3/4 cup heavy cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheese (I used a mixture of cheddar and swiss)
- In a 12-inch cast iron skillet, butter the bottom and sides
- Add 1 pack of frozen hash browns
- Mix in cooked sausage
- Pour egg mixture over the top
- Smoke at 350 degrees for 45 minutes
- Top with parsley
- Try not to eat the whole thing!

Oh wow!! Now I know what I’m doing next time!!
Greetings from Chicago! Made this for post Thanksgiving brunch and added sautéed onions, peppers, shrooms, and bacon and it came out way better than I thought it would. The hash browns giving the whole thing a pie like crust made this a real winner.

Please don't think I'm attacking you or bashing you in any way. I find those links difficult to cut. The casing doesn't cut so well. Brother do what you're doing. It's great. I enjoy the content, creativity and ideas you create. Thank you

@davidkennell2042 oh I didn’t take it that way at all! Thanks so much for watching!
Do the hash browns get crispy on the bottom? If not id probably experiment with getting the bottom bowned first

Could you put the hash browns in the pan with the butter first and then smoke them for a little and then add everything else and proceed with the rest of the cooking?

You definitely could!
That looks incredible! At 350°, do you get any smoke flavor in the dish? Thank you for sharing your videos.

You do, but the addition of a smoke tube is always great. Thanks for watching!
What brand and type of pellets used?
@HolySmokesBBQ

I used the Pit Boss Competition Blend pellets. Easily one of the most versatile ones out there.
Are you using Indirect or direct heat?
@HolySmokesBBQ
Жыл бұрын
It’s indirect as the heat passes underneath the flame shield to fully heat from all angles. Good question!
I love the idea but the hashbrowns look under cook, no?
@HolySmokesBBQ

Good observation but actually they were cooked through. I might swap and put them on top next time to make them more crispy but they were definitely cooked well.
For some of us that entire skillet is one serving.
