Hello The handyman Journey. I have a wired Kidde smoke detector and i'm having an issue. The voice from the detector keeps saying "error see troubleshooting guide" while showing a red or orange light turning off and on. My question is, how do i make it stop ?

Why didn’t KZread recommend this 3 weeks ago when I had the problem at 3 am. Not only will it chiro when past the 10 year point and is going bad, but with WSI, the instructions don’t mention that the it also chirps every minute when battery needs to be replaced. Thanks for posting this

Ours is a wired smoke detector. I was surprised when it started beeping every 45 seconds and I found battery, as well It needed a battery replacement. It stopped beeping now. Your video is very helpful. Thank you

Hey Allen. Nice WLOG you got here, I've been watching your WLOG for some time now and i got a question for you, how do you manage the wear and tear of tools? You included in the hourly rate or you invoice it separately? Just started my handyman business one month ago (in Europe) and i already have to raise my rates. Just finished a job installing 150 ft of satellite cable along a concrete wall yesterday and i completely worn out an 1/4 SDS Plus drill bit.

I am convinced that the majority of people that make KZread videos about the smoke detectors and they’re crazy annoying chirping have no idea how to solve the problem when it’s a hardwired smoke detector. I’ve been looking for a very long time on KZread and without fail the only solutions or four battery powered smoke detectors. So annoyed. I pressed the reset button and all of my smoke detectors in my entire house started going off! Then I had to press the reset button again to get to the different things this stupid unit detects. After a super dramatic two minutes freaking freaking out my neighbors? My stupid hardwired smoke detector is still chirping every 30 seconds. My electrician and I bought these together at Home Depot and he installed all of these three weeks ago. No place to change out a 9 volt. Somebody got any ideas?

Sorry you are having issues, if your smoke detector is chirping constantly and you have replace the batteries or if it does not have batteries then it is time to have it replaced. I have had many smoke detectors chirp right out of the package and be defective, so I would recommend that you take that one smoke detector back to the store and get a new one and get it put up and I bet that will solve your problem!

Yeah mine was actually 20 years old and were also wired in and they didn’t turn off (they randomly went off) my mom grab all of them drove to a parking lot and threw them away

OK...I hooked up a new firex i4618ac in an existing system (old brand was dead)...all seemed fine but once I turned on the AC--it beeped and would not turn off until I unplugged the unit (the green light was on so I know I hooked it up right?)-- this is 2nd in line of a chain of 3 detectors-- I need help.

All 5 of mine went of this morning. They have both the battery and wire. I couldn't get them to go off do I disconnected all of them and took out battery. I checked date May 23, 2007.

My alarm is a first alert made in Mexico and has no exp date. Could it be somewhere else?

I was in a hotelroom and it was beeping the WHOLE time. I didn't know what it was but we checked out the next day

I didnt want to know about a new smoke detector I wanted to know how do I know if my smoke detector works. It started beeping every 45 sec. Is there a trick like putting a big lighter under it to see if it goes on?

Mine has both. The plugs that I had to disengage to then change the battery as it was chirping. Plugged back in with brand new battery and still chirping. Any suggestions?

Mt suspicion would be that maybe the tabs did not get removed to activate the battery or the batteries for some reason are not making good contact, they beep when the batteries die or are not working

The smoke detector that’s beeping is above the stairs where it’s very difficult to reach. So convenient

every one of my smoke detectors happen to go off randomly at night every few months. so I hear beeping from in my room, and then the rooms down the hallway I hear them from, but with a slight delay. I assume it’s only a battery issue, but it’s still super inconvenient that all of them go off like that. Worst part is that this happens at night, and sometimes the one I need to change is up above the stairs as well where I need to get a ladder to change it

Quick correction, I'm sure you just misspoke. If your smoke detectors are wired and interconnected then they will all have 3 wires, you said the last one would only have 2, but it still has to send a signal to the others if it goes off. If they are wired but not interconnected then there will only be 2 wires each.

No, it covers what to do if they chirp, if they chirp replace them. Thats pretty much all there is to smoke detectors. Hope this helps!

Many of the new smoke detectors are hermetically sealed so the unit gets replaced not the battery.
