Smog Testing our Race Car - High Flow Catalytic Converter
In this episode we test a few elements of our high flow catalytic converter on our race car:
1. Cost
2. Power Loss
3. Emissions Reduction

Thanks for keeping it simple, no bs, short, straight to the point, and informative. Please keep them coming the same way
Amazing video bro, I was looking for this to take a decision on my car.
Awesome video! As a total car noob. Is it possible to put these on a normal car? What would they do? Also. What are some other ways you can go Eco with your race car?

They are already on street cars, and work very well because they are mounted closer to the engine and therefore generate the heat necessary to operate effectively. What we are curious about is where to find the optimal temperature on a race car, and if the exhaust gasses are moving too fast to do anything even with a full emissions system. We are
my 5sfe is faster, stock?
As you already mentioned in your comment, the test of the exhaustgases is totally useless because lack of the right temperature! A catalytic converter needs to be at 800 degrees centigrade, red glowing to do the right jobb! That’s usually next to the manifold/headers as possible! Except when using a turbo. Conclusion, 1/2 the video is a waste! Sorry!

Correct, but as mentioned in the video, we did see an AFR difference on the dyno (higher exhaust temperatures at higher loads), and it did make a difference, which is good considering a race car spends 90% of its life under full load conditions, not rolling on a smog dyno. So for racing applications, there is a tradeoff between performance (location of converter, along with restriction of converter) versus actually maximizing emmisions control. But hey, not many people cared about this video in the first place, so onto EV's we go.
