Smiths Everest... my Explorer or just another budget watch?

A good friend of mine lent me his watch. This Smiths Everest is amazing watch and helped me tremendously on my journey to obtain a Rolex Explorer.

I bought my Everest (also in Gilt) along with a San Martin 2n020g in 39mm with the intention of wearing both to help decide between a 36mm or 39mm modern Rolex Explorer… I never took the Smiths off and I have no desire for a Rolex anymore. The miyota 9039 is accurate to +1 second a day and I still find myself staring at at 6 months later. To each their own, but the Everest is it for me.

I have the gilt dial but I still want the explorer and saving up for it.. just cant decide between 114270 or 124270
Glad you like the watch, mate. Your contents right up my street. Very pro produced video. looking forward to future vids. Good luck !
I ordered my smiths commando 6 days ago from the original owner, it was delivered today. My wife usually gives me a hard time about my watches. This time she called and said your watch arrived, oh my God it’s nice. It has the quality of a Rolex. This smiths will be a long term keeper . I talked to a Rolex AD about getting the oyster perpetual 41-36 or even the 34 mm. This smiths watch is on par with Rolex. Don’t believe me. Get one yourself and see.
Excellent video. Thank you for a superb summary of a superb watch. atb, Kev
Had mine (also gilt) through ebay a year ago, love it, the dial, size...etc. Love to check their commendo too.
Thank you all for the comments. Its a lot of fun to hear your thoughts of the watch and video. I may have jumped off the deep end and bought a crown 😬 but not the one you'd expect. Can't wait to share it with yall.

@@timehack7485 Oh I thought it was a grimace at the idea of buying a Rolex I was confused haha
Very nice review! This is really helpful for me since I am eyeing the smiths.
Good stuff matey. You deserve many more subs.
I bought the Everest Expedition first because of my hangup about buying "Rolex homages", but then I purchased the Smiths Commander and I fell in love with it. I look forward to buying an Everest in the future. The history of Timefactors (current owners of the Smiths brand) in the microbrand sphere is quite fascinating in itself. TF is one of the OGs, back when Fricker was still around making cases. People just think TF only makes Explorer homages and that's all they know about the current Smiths brand. There's so many more awesome tool watch homages and originals in the TF catalog.
was able to buy one on the first try.. can't wait for it to arrive.
Great video!
The dog wants to know why you didn't blur out his face like you did with yours🤣. Nice review. Smiths is under new ownership and nothing like the originals. The huge problem with Smiths, Baltic and others is the overuse of the inexpensive Miyota 9039 movement. When Citizen updated the 8215 to the higher beat nine series they should have update the nosy less efficient unidirectional winding rotor to bidirectional but they didn’t.
Hey, I just bought it on a drop a week ago and I'm waiting for the delivery. The only thing I would like to change in this watch is a sunburst dial. If only that could be glossy black I think it would be much closer to perfection. Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on it and I am super thankful for you video as it is the best one available on YT to get an idea how this watch really looks in flesh with different lighting. Also I appreciate all the effort you put in creating this. Thanks mate!

It does have a sunburst effect. You’ll see when you get the watch.

@@LorianandLothric Yes, I know. I would like it to be just glossy black though. I got my watch yesterday and it's awesome. The sunburst is subtle and my first impression is that I quite like it ;)

Yeah a mat dial would have been nice.

@@timehack7485 the regular black everest has a semi-mat dial, so might be perfect for you. For me the ideal would be just glossy piano black, no bunburst with deep black color :)
I have a Hamilton Khaki Auto and I totally agree that it can be hard to read at a glance. There is too much going on within the dial. I actually have an easier time quickly reading the time on my Casioak which is only indices and hands.
The Everest is a fantastic highbeat watch.
Great Video - I have a smiths but i want the Explorer. #dilemma
Would never had that down as a 36 mm from your footage on wrist.
Killer video!
Can we just talk about the watch? What is this whole introduction? I zoned out.
Buy an Addiesdive AD2112 instead. Instantly available, very accurate (with a bit of adjusting), beautiful dial, fantastic lume and MUCH cheaper.
Had one, disappointed from day one and had nothing but issues with it,flipped it and got a laurel alpinist instead that's WAY better and is also an original, real piece, not a wannabe copy.
Tried to buy one and they sold out within 45 seconds 🥴
Modern day Smiths Timefactor has nothing to do with the original Smiths watches made in England !
It’s nice, just like many other Explorer copies, but the handset ruins it. Hour hand too short and minute hand way too long. Once you notice it, you just can’t unsee it…
I like the way the modern smiths is a rolex copy couldn't make it up would rather a real smiths replica than a fake rolex

Go for the Everest PRS -25 Expedition option then as that is a copy of an earlier Smiths model. I own both and I prefer the Expedition version. Well it gets more wrist time!

An English company based in Tunbridge Wells still services the original SMITHS wrist watches, the 1953 A409 was a modified A404 model for the British Himalaya expedition.
If you have a wrist the size of a bear , buy Invicta they got you covered
OOOOOOOmage
Why does everyone have to go over the story of Smiths? Just review the watch.
