These were indeed, the finest line of pistols S&W ever made. They really goofed when they jumped on the polymer craze.

I purchased a 3914 many years ago as my backup weapon on/off duty. It is extremely accurate and has never failed once all these years. It is now retired as my bedroom weapon in case something goes bump in the middle of the night.

Great guns. Some of the best CC 9mm handguns ever made. I MUCH prefer a DA/SA or DAO hammer fired gun for carry. But for a couple of 1911s, ALL my CC 9mms are DA/SA or DAO hammer fired pistols, including S&W Models 3914, 6904, SIG P228 and Beretta 92FS. I have a few striker fired 9mms and those spend there lives in drawers around the house I have an unusual 3914 which is DAO and was produced by S&W for NYPD on their specifications. NYPD wanted a DAO version of this gun for detectives. S&W accommodated them. weird For a concealed carry, self defense pistol the DAO is fine and eliminates the safety/decocker. There is no possibility of an accidental DAO discharge and no possibility of leaving the safety in the "on" position after decocking. As Jeff Cooper called it..."getting caught with your dingle down" It also eliminated the training needed to go from the DA to SA trigger pull after the first shot.

A recently-acquired 3814 will become my primary warm/hot weather EDC. A .40 SIG P239 will be my primary cool/cold weather EDC.

I LOVE mine. It was my dads gun and he bought it a loooong time ago like the late 80s maybe. He died about a yr ago and handed all his guns down to me. This is a super fun pistol to shoot and pretty accurate in the right hands

I just traded for one of these. Mine has an ambi-safety and does not say Ladysmith on it. If I keep it, I'll get the Hogue mono grips for it. The plastic ones seem a little slippery. Thanks for showing the takedown--needed to see how it was done!

The regular 3913 (stainless) and 3914 (blue) have a straight dust over (the part of the frame under the barrel in front of the trigger guard.) The Ladysmith versions of those two model numbers have an upward-sweeping dust cover. I think the Ladysmith are nicer-looking guns. They look even better with the gray factory grips.

A friend of mine has this gun as his off-duty carry.

No it has ladysmith on the slide. You are just not used to seeing the 3914 Ladysmith, but hopefully in 6 years you have figured it out.

Mess with my Lady and you will be fucking DEAD at the end of the day because she's fast and crazy as hell! :) Heheh

This is Not for my Lady! She dont eat, sleep & shit GUNS like I do so I would rather that she keep her "point & Destroy" weapon (Revolver) that she carries now.

Dude, the 3913 was the "Lady Smith" and had a gray grip and frame. The 3914 was a non-gender version compact auto for concealed carry. Please check your facts before posting.

Kelly Kismyass the 3913 and 3914 both came in standard, lady Smith, and NL packages the 3914 he is shown is a Ladysmith it even had the engraving on the slide

3913 is the stainless model. 3914 is the blued model. There were "Ladysmith" marked versions of each. You can clearly see in the video that the gun is marked "Ladysmith" Please check your facts before posting. 🙄
