Is traveler's better than CDR boots? Not just overall, but what about early vs mid vs late game? I would have thought rushing the CDR is something to do for Ares.

Zaucroya ares also(until today)was one of the few characters in the game who have a lower base movement speed then other characters. So no mobility plus lower base movement. Season 5 buffed his base movement speed up to all other characters along with the others who had a lower base.

Can someone explain to me the point of picking up travelers shoes? I'm not a support but when I play it I don't think it is that good but I'm guessing I'm wrong

Jack M With Travelers boots, you get 30 gold for every God you hit (you can only proc this once per god per minute). That gold adds up very quickly. Say you hit 3 gods a minute for the first 10 minutes. That's an extra 900 gold in your pocket. And if your rotations are on point, you may be able to get more than that.

With Chronos pendant passive could you have the chains on somebody indefinitely?

with old beads that gave you 5/3 secs of cd upon activation you could hit chains three times, than beads for the cooldown and use the ability again. it was pretty broken

i usually do chains b/c if done right it can help clear wave and forces the enemy to back up b/c chains hurt like hell

if you aren't skilled enough to hit all three chains or miss a lot....go flames. if you miss ares 1 at level 1...you are useless for like 12 seconds in which they will bully the fuck out of you

So Ares is basically the Blackbeard of SMITE

Great vid. I appreciate this. I say screw the aura items buff, I have always felt that the "God of War" ought to gain bonus (one or any combo) damage/power/movement speed from any Gods killed on his chains, analogous to how Oden gains bonuses from his pen Ult (and other deaths in the game). This builds the climax to the end of the game, when everyone else has their larger builds. Afterall, that's kinda the theme of "war' isn't it? kills build your momentum. Just a thought. :)

Honestly, with all the abilities and the relics that slow you in this game, I've turned to winged blade instead of boots. I know you miss the cooldown and mana compared to shoes of focus, but the movement speed (and its short term boost when your slowed, along with health boost and ccr) ends up providing more speed more often because the boots have no resistance to slows. So that 18% move speed with boots turns into almost nothing much of the time. But like to hear your thoughts.

Daji+Ares is a good duo-combo?

Yes and No. It can work but I found that playing with randoms, most the time ares pulls a group of people then daji at the same time pulls them so your mid and adc gets confused. I do think if there is communication it could work but it is not that great combo. Why you need Daji to pull people after Ares already pulled them. For example Ra would've already used his kit to on them. Also what if Ares didn't pull them what are the odds you will be able to pull them. I feel it is not good. I tried it and it's not good

diamond ares here...add gem of isolation to your kit and watch how slow people become. makes his 1 the most deadly ability in the game

CDR boots, shoguns or ,breastplate depending on the hunter in lane, shoguns or breastplate, thebes, Gem of iso...9 times out of 10 games don't go long enough for a sixth item. It can work b/c most of the first 5 items are less that 2300 gold, and if you start with watchers and bumbas you should be able to have enough gold to pull it off. but i really only build gem of iso against teams with a lot of beads or CC immune abilities. The reason i do it is to make my shackles more dangerous since my ult is being countered, ie i use gem to counter people that know how to counter ares. Stone of gaia wont stop the dmg from shackles, beads wont stop it, cc immune ults wont stop it. Plus, most people don't expect gem of iso on ares, but with the new heavenly wing making people slow immune...it might not be viable anymore

gem is nice b/c your shackles are 15% movement reduction +25% from gem...thats 40%. and if you do all three shackels thats 40% for nearly 8 seconds...plus damage, plus cripple, plus flames....its a whole lot of fuck you

and if you really want to troll....horrific emblem for another 40% for 5 secs after you already slowed them for 8 secsonds....you can literally turn it into the longest 13 seconds of their life....and if they burn beads to stop the slows you still have your ult to ensure their life is 100% suck

as DM said, most people don't play him right, so most people don't paly against him right either. So all of that combines to throw the enemy off guard in a situation they probably have never been in before #panic, and if your are good at hitting your 1 (which if you can't this is all pointless) you have what I call the Ares Carries build. People just run away b/c you do too much damage, slow way too much and for too long, and if they survive all that, you can still ult them and kill them. It's demoralizing, I've found, to play against that.

Ares needs buff in my opinion, I feel too squishy as it and I do barely dmg on enemies, tried many different builds (mainly focused on Tanky builds) still feel squishy as it, I think it needs a buff

So if I'm a PlayStation player am I allowed to watch your content anymore? ;)

dmbrandon you forgot the 2nd most important and annoying thing about ares shackles after the cripple its 15%fuking slow per unique shackel so hittong some1 twice which is what ideally would be you can stacl 30%slow or 3 shackles some1 45% slow fking rip.

It's been a while since I've played conquest,mainly been playing clash.A build I find fun and effective(obviously depending on the team comp,and the enemy team) is Boots of the Magi or Cool down then late game change to Magi ,Mystical Mail,Breastplate of valor,Mantle of discord,Heartward amulet and the final item for fun Rod of Tahuti.
