Smelting Date for Jim & Tori - Smelt Fry & Final Clean up of Sugaring Operation!

It's a short one this week but Jim and I got to go smelting! We got a pretty good haul and ended up cleaning smelt for the better portion of the day and then enjoyed a fish fry with friends around the fire!

Long ago I sure enjoyed going smelting. When we got to the location there were a LOT of people there doing the same and a LOT of smelt! Glad that you got to enjoy this date night! Maybe you could do this date night regularly as it is a great thing to do for yourselves! The children are both such fun and seeing them learn and enjoy things is wonderful. Huddy truly does love learning to do things himself and he seems so calm doing it! A great video and thanks for sharing your family with us!

We have a granddaughter, 6 months younger than Hudson. She has a wonderful receptive vocabulary but she barely talks. She rarely gets to interact with other children her age. Instead of turning on the toddler channels she usually watches, I turned on your channel so she could watch and listen to Huddy. She was attentive! She really liked cleaning the smelt! Aside from that, my husband and I watch you and Jim regularly, often commenting that many young couples would benefit from watching how spouses and parents work together! Great teamwork, Tori and Jim!

Takes me back to the 70's dip netting with my Dad at Lakeview park in Oshawa. I recall they bigger sized back then maybe cause it was great lake. Yes all the eggs grossed us out. Well done Baird family!

Hey Tori 👋 Just love the way you and Jim are raising your boys ❤ Hudson is so funny, polite and caring (I am sure he has his moments though lol). He is such a joy! Seeing Wes in the stroller being able to do his own thing is awesome! Keep building that strength Wes ❤ Tori you blow me away each week with your strength (inner and external) and patience 😊 Have a blessed week guys 🙏

That knife looks great, I'm going to have to check it out! My husband is from Michigan and said they would catch garbage bags full of smelt, so this was really nostalgic for him. (We live in Oklahoma now, so no smelt *wah wah*) ❤

Every couple with kids needs a date night out. Nice catch of smelt. I live in Wisconsin, and smelt are a big thing here. I've fried them up and they're delicious. Time consuming gutting them, but worth it. Huddy makes pancakes and helps clean the smelt. Loved the owl shirt. Wes having fun in his walker. Everybody can enjoy the warmer weather. Nice video guys!

Loved doing that in Wisconsin growing up. It's not what it used to be. We used to cut the heads off then gut and spoon them out. Lol. Then we soaked them in water rolled them in seasoned flour and fried. Man i miss a good smelt fry. Those boys are something else. Lol

That’s a long job cleaning those tiny smelts. We fish them through the ice in the the winter in New Brunswick, they’re much bigger - 6-8 inches long but still a chore.

I remember going smelt dipping during my youth and the smelt ran so plentiful you could barely lift the net out of the water. Wow, the last time I went smelt dipping it was like 18 years ago and we could only fill a 5 gallon bucket 3 inches from the top.
