SMELLY OF NOFX INTERVIEW!

Ойын-сауық

World class heroin addict in recovery and drummer from NOFX Eric 'Smelly' Sandin calls into the show! Hear a lifetime of debauchery from a very young age and how recovery might've inadvertantly propelled NOFX into being the most important independent punk rock band in the last 20 years! World Class Dopey right here! Punk rock, vomiting, pharma farts, getting sobriety right the first time, and having a life of honesty and love!

This is such an incredible interview. Smelly is such an inspiration to me. After reading the book a couple years ago, I sent him an email expressing how much his stories meant to me as a recovering addict, and he got back to me with very nice words of encouragement. He’s been one of my favourite drummers since I was in high school, and I have nothing but love and admiration for him. Thank you for posting this!

Yes , i will miss them too. I am from germany and also addicted in hard stuff my hole life. There where some terrible times i do not make through again. I nearly could'nt believe in his 'sober' cause i am not so strong to left this behind me. I have to read the book about theire Lifestyle and lifetime and how they get trough. Smelly is a real honest person. When he talks about his problems and the way he throw the shit away. The hole band didn't live without drugs and theire are still alive!!! This impressed me so hard. Unluckely i've never see them live on stage. I think my addiction is the cause of this fail. I regrett it. But nothing in the past can be changed. When he talks about his second chance to change his life.... (hard stuff) i've been nearly tears... I hope there is a reunion sometimes. And i wish they play on my birthday Party if i been multi billionare....... Junkies not every time 'junkies' !!! In my turn there is a different in behavior to be an asshole or to be a straight gay. My dreams never die. Don't lay down stay vertical!!! The last sleep will come for everyone.... So long from the german JURI TALENT....

I always thought “full bore” referred to “boreing” out a motorcycle engine to increase the power and torque. “Full Bore” meant full power.

1:03:45 I wonder if this is the reason why they plan on ending it in 2023. If they had an intervention with Mike about a year ago because he's too crazy and Smelly's saying that he doesn't want to retire and that the band would deal with heavy consequences because of it then I see no other reason why NoFX would call it quits.

  • @colina1330

Mike says it's because he just doesn't want to play NOFX songs anymore after 40 years, which is fair. But, after hearing what Smelly has to say about him, I dunno. It's hard to believe someone as open as Fat Mike is lying about that, though.

Yeah, they’re not retiring because of Mikes Drug use. Mike was clean for almost a year and started drinking again but not a crazy amount. It’s Mikes decision to end it. He wants to do other things. Talks on sexuality and being open an honest about it, comedy, and doing other types of music like Codefendants.
