@@ryline666 because he never played live with the Zero shirt after this show and Dublin. Which, before KZread it was rare to see. The BWBW video was done months before the album came out.

@@AhYesIndeedItsFunTime This was the first show he wore the zero shirt and he continued to wear it throughout 96 for the tour. The BWBW video was insanely popular and played on Much Music/Mtv quite a bit before KZread came out. Not a rare sight at all.

The only Mellon collie video I've seen that Billy has hair

To be honest, his hair didn't look *that* bad. I think he could have kept it for another year at least. It's a shame, really. I mean, I'm going bald right now, and I'm analysing Billy Corgan videos from 1993 to 1995 to see if it mirrors my own ever decreasing lack of hair. Maybe it will offer me a clue on what to do. Balding? It's bollocks, mate.

I started losing my hair at 21. Unlike Billy, mine wasn't in the public spotlight. My wife gave me a laugh whenever she referred to my hair as thinning. No my love, thinning was 16 years ago. My hair packed up and moved away.

This is one of my favourite shows of all time. Definitely the highlight at Reading that year with Pavement a close second. Amazing set - XYU and on the giant screen behind the band a looping video of a surfer pulling into a giant barrel, over and over, mesmerising. Into the eyes of a jackal I say kaaaaa-boom!

not a band i particularly like but this was my first proper festival and this show was fuckin amazing, I dont know if the acid i dropped beforehand added to that but really great set

Nobody understands my struggle reconciling bald Billy with the Mellon Collie and The infinite Sadness songs. I had already heard the album in its entirety long before learning that he had shaved off all of his hair. So many people discovered the band for the first time only after seeing the 1979 video. Please, I need more footage of pre bald Billy from 1995 singing these wonderful songs.

I'd seen them play the night before this in Dublin and caught a bottle of water billy threw into the crowd!!

I was at this show and remember it well. I had never heard SP but that night they blew me away. It was the night I became a lifelong fan.

Bloody hell i haven't seen that in years!! I remember watching that when it was on and had it recorded on vhs, it was the only clip of any new material that was available (pre-internet times) I don't think i'd ever been more excited about the release of an album than i was about Mellon Collie.....

Smashing Pumpkins & Hole at Reading in ‘95 was totally awesome, I listened to it live on the radio here in the US & taped the performances.

Strange seeing BC with hair and that shirt on. He was definitely thinning up top, but the biggest reason he shaved it was to portray the conceptual character of Zero that MCIS is about.

My brother was 4 days old.

I was there! Lifelong Pumpkins fan and my first music festival. Amazing set, but they played too many songs (about 6) from Mellon Collie that no one had ever heard before. They were great, but perhaps wasn't the best idea to showcase brand new material to a huge crowd who just want to hear your older songs.
