Man, if Billy had made the decision to take the 10 or 11 best acoustic tracks that he wrote during this period (IE: Peace and Love, 99 Floors, The Rose March) and make a full band acoustic record with clean stripped down production it would have been a total masterpiece. It probably would have gotten great reviews as well, not that it matters. But still, I really mourn that lost opportunity because these songs are just too good... They deserve to be on an album but the chance has long since passed him by.

I assembled this album for my own entertainment: the 5 tracks from the live In The Round bit from the DVD, the 4 tracks from American Gothic, plus a stray one from a bootleg that doesn't seem to have been recorded. love this song, I can't remember where I 1st heard it but I've never forgotten it. ❤
I used to know you I used to care I used to know you Are you still there? I won't touch you I won't feel you I won't hear you I won't see you I used to know you Are you still there? I used to know you I used to care It goes far and wide It's a cruel device I cannot drive You from my mind I won't reach out I won't strike in I won't dream about I won't parse the thought I used to know you I used to care I used to know you Are you still there? I jumped from the top And fell right back and I Hit the ground running Scared I swam to the bottom of the sea And I asked around for someone Who might know me Ain't a sad when your choices are Vegas and your friends 99 floors And still nowhere to go 99 floors And still nowhere to roam A punch to the head I passed right out and an impotent stood dumbstruck and stared Armed once again by the fist of fate I wait for his resurrection home Ain't it sad when your choices are vices or advice It's eleven o'clock And don't that make you bawl It's eleven o'clock And don't ya make it bawl Evil, ailing Feeling oh so low I'm slow to anger Wonder where I could Ever go You know I'd have to forget It goes far and wide It's a cruel device I cannot drive You from my mind

part of what makes billy a great songwriter is his ability to be patient and slowly build to an awesome crescendo
Wow. This is incredible.
I'm already crying.
I love it! Thank you
Billy Corgan This was a Brilliant Arrangement of this Song. Billy, I play it on my Taylor when I miss someone I loved but can't be with or even talk to. It's a weird world when a person runs from the thing they profess to hold most dear. Love. Strange, these Humans.;) T1

Perfection as usual ...
human beings, sometimes they're like trees, simple, complex, beautiful, innocent. billy gives music as they give oxygen, it's like an obvious miracle
Gorgeous! I love it

Billy is notorious among fans for not putting his better songs of the post 2000 years on the actual released albums. see also: the Zwan Glass House songs, Riverview, Spilled Milk, Prairie Song, the entire ChicagoSongs album, The World's Fair, Bit 5, Tilt, Gossamer, Stellar, The Rose March, the 2008 jammy stuff, Lonely is the Name, Burnt Orange-Black, etc.

wonderful
Billy Corgan sempre arrebentando :D Que voz incrivelmente linda. :3
Wow you know there was a lot of beautiful songs written by billy during this zeitgeist era ... the album had some mixing issues but some of these songs you hear live just incredible. Like a blend of Gish and adore
Beautiful music...
Damnit this song sounds amazing. It's too bad you can't get it on iTunes...
I. LOVE. THIS! #fanforlife
I adore Billy and the smashing pumpkins..
Billy Corgan is such a talented human being.
I have this DVD. It's so good!!
JESUS JUST AWESOME!
magnific!!
this song is so marvellous...
Wow, I wish there was a studio version of this. If someone posts the whole "if all goes wrong" movie on KZread, I will love you forever

Such a cool song.. Actually really love this era of the band.. Although lets be honest, Corgan never really got the harmonica thing down.
in 2021, We need this king of songs from billy......
Love
long live the pumpkins!
Such an amazing song. Similar in feel to a couple of Pisces Iscariot tracks I love.
I still love billy, lattely has been making some pretty cool versions and even some new song, that even diferent from the Great SP are very nice....
Everyone always craps on Billy for being smug or arrogant but if u could make and play something like this with that voice on top of it I'd allow u to be oppinunative about the music industry as well.

wow this configuration setting reminds me of the BeaTLes "Let it Be" inside the album picture (when u open the album cover) spread, cheers! x0]
@muzicnub4life No studio version really exists right now, unless the band's recording it for "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope". This is probably the best version of it that exists.
this song is sooooo good i hope its on the next album
@kennykensworth I love these lyrics. 99 Floors is a masterpiece.
my master Billy
Anyone who says they like the Smashing Pumpkins, I show them this. You either love them or you don't ❤️
Questo è un vero pezzo malin-corgan
still it leaves a particular feeling in my gut of ambitous curiousity if the orignal line up would fail miserably or succeed gracefully now a days and how they would sound together making new music. i guess we will never know.
I play this but find it hard to fight the pain. Peace to all who used to know
And I do think the very same brother ... I totally agree!!! But actually this song hasn't been recorded in studio yet just written and performed ...
Imagine how many takes this took.

Just one. It was impromptu.
@dethmag Well you have to respect the fact that the same mind that That wrote songs as hard as Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and The Ever Lasting Gaze can write a smooth sweet song like this. I love this song it would have been perfect for Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness.
People who say Billy can't write anymore haven't heard this song.
Peace+Love, 99floors, No Surrender, Gossamer, Mama, Promise Me, and rerelease Zeitgeist properly with all the songs from that era on one album like Zeitgeist, MaBelle, Death from Above, ....and release Superchrist, GLOW, and FOL as well...oh and release Lightning Strikes and Owata....!! commmeeee onnnnnn!!

@WhiteLotusFlower well, I have to agree that the last concept that billy adopt is very interesting. about james, is a diferent way is choose to follow. I cheer him. just hope that billy can mantaine the good work pos tarantula (that was really a side shot). cumps
Honestly the only Pumpkins song I like (and really like) post reform and it's not on an album!
I didn't like Zeitgeist much but songs like this are a great addition to the Pumpkins legacy imo. He had any number of names to call the band he puts out these new songs under, but obviously he feels that they're "Pumpkin" material, or hed have called them "Zwan" or "Billy Corgan" songs.
Jimmy will return. I already know. Billy just needs to focus on music and stop selling the songs for commercials. I mean 2 already this year.

And Chris your comment from 11 years ago came true. :)
Explain how its over-indulgent? It's a great build up to a great song. Just because he solos it in the beginning? You mean like starla? He's starting you off on a ride... why not just enjoy the trip? ;) A great song doesn't need to be dissected, just enjoyed.
It's a GS8 Taylor Model !
just one question,do you know james solo work, or his participations in other band (liek a perfect circle)? and melissa, his solo album? james is a diferente musician, but a great one to. it misses something in SP. PS: if you were talking about the tinted windows, i agree thats not a band for james. cumps
Is anybody here can tell me , what is the Taylor he play with ? GA model ?
It's a pity that stuff like this never made it onto a proper album. The Pumpkins could've really aged gracefully if they'd released something in the 00s that had this sort of nuanced acoustic sound.
Does somebody know the key of the harmonica in this song ? Thx.

kinda sounds like classic country or folkish with that guitar not saying its a bad thing either

20anosdepois Of course i've heard james solo works dude and(perfect circle) Sorry I've heard his solo stuff not be a hater of what he does,it adds up to?Lets see NOTHING really.I don't have problem with melissa's solo works...good stuff.Fan's really need stop living in the pass really.Billy's making music get over it and SP is his.I do really miss jimmy tho...but like the old saying goes, stop living in pass and "ALL THINGS CHANGE".
