zelda is so underdeveloped by most of the community, people need to realize her normals are surprisingly good and that she doesn't have to just rely on her strong specials

Zelda is what I wish all the top tier characters sans Pokemon Trainer were designed like. On paper, Zelda has really obvious weaknesses but when played at her max, humanely attainable potential, she is an absolute monster. She's extremely powerful not because she can do everything, but because her strengths are so overwhelming that they can cover for said weaknesses. She's not a character who isn't allowed to fail, it's why she's so hard to pick up because her advantages aren't obvious aside from her zoning game. But when you realize "Wait, N-Air can do *THAT*" or "F-Air killed at *THAT* percentage" that's when you understand the very real danger she presents. I'd call her top tier, I believe it in my heart. But Palutena exists. :/
@SpyderBey

@@heartnet40 100% Agree. I think a lot of these "low tier" characters are just ranked so low because people don't know how to fully use them. That's why I laugh every time when a player uses a supposed "low tier" character to whoop someone with a "high tier" character in competitive play. It's awfully hilarious, especially when the chat gets MAD and starts screaming "that character is still low tier" or "that was a fluke!" 😂

right?! I watch supposed "pros" talk about Zelda or commentators on a Zelda match and they're completely clueless... but they're confident in their opinions. Zelda is a great character. There are things I'd change of course (like grab speed and I'd bring back the easier displaced phantom from that one patch they did) but honestly I pretty much never struggle to do well with her. Like one person I was watching talk about her was going on about how she has super laggy options and her neutral is bad because of it and I'm just #facepalm the whole time. Her normals are actually very fast. Especially after they buffed her jab speed in the last patch. Zelda's BIG weakness is her mobility. She struggles HARD against very specific characters (like zss/wolf/palu) and those matchups just happen to be super top tier characters that are EVERYWHERE in bracket. So it really holds her viability back.

I feel so bad that in online she literally loses much of her properties because of lag, yeah, she has some unreactable stuff too, but she's a character with precise timings, and need a lot of reaction to work properly. And who mains her, knows how suck is her disadvantage state at online, being juggled by swordies in non-true combos, dying because wrong time with farore's wind and other things is frustrating af.
Beautiful work. I kinda knew everything but It’s covering Zelda so I had to watch it. I wish pros didn’t sleep on her.

Who are the sad people that dislike these videos? The quality is supreme. Very nice.
I don't even play 90% the characters you do these videos on, but these videos are so well made that I still watch them
I picked up Zelda in Ultimate after years of playing close-up melee characters... just to melee with her, lol. I pretty much just use her Side-B to stop people from camping/staying away from me, and Up-B to kill sometimes. I thought I'd never get a How-To for Zelda because of her reputation and how normal people play her, but I was wrong! ... I'll watch the video now lol

- unless it is smash 4 that is how you do it lol... funny that phantom became such a complex and powerful move in smash ultimate when it was so bad before (it had some uses, but was soo slow and comital), and that it is the same move that used to switch to a better character, who is now much more comparable in power.. tbh I think sheik players would want Zelda back for down b, after neglecting her for so long
I don't tend to watch this video series, but I'm glad I'm sort of a part of it. Thank you for contacting me. And this makes me realise, I still have some things to really tweak in my game. My spacing is usually subpar (don't take full advantage of spaced Kicks, Dtilt and reverse Utilt). A lot of this has to do with her initial dash, which can be very hard to control if you're constantly using it.
She's so sick man I love this character. Ike and Zelda are my mains. Thanks for finally making a guide for her Izaw!
after seeing this zelda might be a little better than i thought, really good and in depth guide izaw!
I noticed I've got the highest GSP with Zelda, not because I main her (she's my secondary), but because my opponent don't know how she's effective. Most people see her as a spamming character or a projectile user, but she's very close-range oriented and aggressive
There is a easier way to do a phantom displacement which I figured out a long time ago which made it for me a lot more consistent to pull it off! Alright for some reason if you press during the input A at the same time as B and jump, I get consistent displaced phantoms without the tight timing of the shorthop jumpsquat frames to take into consideration. I also made sure to bind jump to one of the shoulder buttons for a easier way to press all 3 buttons. If anyone else can test this I would appreciate it to hear if it works.
@John3_16-17
2 жыл бұрын
Thats cool! The way learned was to dash away and jump on the same frame as i hold down in the opposite direction. I basically just roll my thumb on Y and B really fast. It works 5/6 times atm but with more practice I'm sure I'll be able to hit it consistently

absolutely beautiful video. i loved seeing all of the crazy combos you did, i was unaware she was even capable of such magnificent combos! even though ive been maining zelda since ultimate came out, i learned new things. marvelous work :D thank you for posting this superb video.
10:54 You know, This up air's hitbox is bigger than Zelda herself. But really? This touches through Smashville? Bruh
Izaw teaching us to slingshot a year ago (see 5:50) Godlike!
we just gonna talk over 17:54 where that Lucina lost their Stock 1 frame after their invincibility wore off? Okay then...
The long awaited sequel. The first one perfected my Zelda in smash 4, and even though I now main incineroar, hopefully I can master her too with this video.
This was probably one of the best Zelda guides I have been scouring around for. Not only do you showcase topics rarely covered by other Zelda guides that are crucial for good transferrable habits with Neutrals, Recovery, and Ledge Trapping, but you also present them in a practical way showing off weaknesses like ending lag, what being punished for misreading looks like, and other nuances that other creators don't capture (only VODs of themselves owning their opponents). Thanks so much for this guide!
At this point, can she be classified has a "puppeteer" kind of.character? It is different from Rosa, but....
@etaquince5220
3 жыл бұрын
@@TurboPancake Ofc, but the way you use it make me think of Nirvana in Blazeblue. You input her move, she does the thing, and you act depending on how the opponent react. Phamtom is not as complex, but the concept is similar

Izaw says it best, she’s more of a bait and punish trapping character than a puppeteer, she doesn’t quite fit that archetype.

Decided to learn Zelda today, and you posted this amazing video. What a hard read. Thank you for the amazing job

I literally watched your ganon video, and as a 2D competitive player ( sf mainly tournament goer ) i learned how to understand smash and ganon instantly from you. Keep up the great work
What I love about Zelda is that she can be used in a large variety of ways. She can zone, be agressive or defensive, and more. Additionally, she can switch playstyles at the drop of a hat
I learned exactly 3 things I would not have thought of before and not necessarily on everything he was teaching but the three moves he did that he didn't mention per say but made me go... ooooo! Thank you Izaw!😏
As a zelda main, this is beautiful!
It was your smash 4 Zelda video that got me to play her so happy to see this as a Zelda main
I love this vids, and while there are bits of this sprinkled in with the general stuff, would you consider adding a section specifically on counterplay? It would really help for just general, non-character specific matchup knowledge. Great job as always.
yesss i’ve been waiting for this thanks so much Izaw
Man legend of Zelda has such good music
She also has one thing with her Phantom where if you input Neutral B or Up B on exactly Frame 66 she'll launch the Phantom and do the special at the same time.
OMG! Just last week posted a comment on the other Art of Zelda video asking for an updated version... and here it is. 😍
bruh I've been playing Zelda since Melee, and I didn't know about half of these. I didn't even know how to properly use Phantom, like this is so great and informative. I mostly just played defensive or punish style, but like wow, the setups and traps are so cool. the editing with the visuals is just so good too. i've really been liking these videos for how well put together they are

My Friend/Roomate loves playing Zelda and labbed all of this stuff for years. Best Zelda I have ever faced.. still cant beat him to this day and if I do I go treat myself to therapy and ice cream.
These were some amazing combos.

My man releasing another banger video! Also, my review be up there 🔥
OMG i've been waiting for this (and been a patreon of you for this) for years! Zeldaaaaaaa
At a Zelda main, I think she's one of the very best at edge guarding in the game but must Zelda's I play don't bother worth it. Jumping off with phantom or Din's fire and punishing the air dodge with an aerial can cover so many options, and if you hit a fair off stage it's GG
I've been waiting for this video since launch!!
I have no words to say how good this video is.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Wasn’t expecting this. Awesome.
Great vid like always IzAw!
I miss twilight princess Zelda :(
She has come so far from when she started in melee it feels so satisfying
People who constantly complain about Zelda's only spamming Phantom need to shut up because there's more to her than that. Plus, it's not like every single top tier doesn't spam something, or heck any character can spam something. If it works, then *use it!*
Bro, hit us with some of those traditional fighting game characters and sick combos! I'd love to see Art of Ryu, Ken, or Terry.

Zelda-art of neutral B. Sonic-art of side B(maybe steve and banjo too). G&W-art of up B. Zss-art of down B.
As a Zelda main, I love this. This will be very useful if I ever get back to competing
When an art of comes out, I watch it no matter what I was doing before
Dang Zelda is sick, now I want to play her. Might have to try her out sometime. . .
I started using Zelda like 2 weeks ago and I've gotten really good with her. As a new Zelda main I never really use her phantom since it sort of makes you vulnerable and slows you down so I just tend to use her air attacks, neutral B, side B, Up B, and her other ground attacks for racking up damage. I also use her down air for spikes which made me want to main her in the first place
These guides are always impressive
learned more about zelda than i ever wanted thanks sir
5:53 I was here all night trying to figure out how to do this 😅😂😂
Been waiting for this one. I like playing zelda, even if people mostly just press b with her Also I love love love done throw into SS back air at low percentages, since people just rush at me expecting me to spam knight and b moves like any other online zelda. That, or a cheeky Dthrow into Uair at mid percentages depending on DI or if my opponent isn't paying attention
Would love an “Art of BEATING …” series and series of 2-minute videos with the absolute most vital info.
This has been the first character to really click with me. I did very well with Mario, but Zelda just feels so cool. There were so many tricks I was missing too.
Wasn't expecting Zelda not gonna lie. I think Art of Incineroar would also be neat to see.
