In this video, we will be installing the Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL with Bluetooth and Zigbee installed and Set-up in the new SmartThings App.

*Do you have a smart lock on all of your exterior doors?*
I really like the Yale lock. works great for my garage door also added the door contact which helps extend our lock and unlock

I want to add 3 smart locks to my house. You have done at least two videos on different locks. Which one(s) do you recommend and why?

I love the Yale locks. Both of mine are very similar and I have them on all 3 exterior doors. Look sleek and have different finishes to match your other hardware also.
I had the Schlage Connect since 2018 and acted up last year. Shopping for a replacement, more locks now are wifi and non z-wave/zigbee. Have you found its harder to find z-wave locks?

I haven’t looked lately but I usually I look on Amazon and use key words.
Can you set a time that the Yale lock will automatically lock. Say at 11pm daily?

Yes you can do that with Alexa or SmartThings. Not sure if the basic Yale app can do it.
You have the deadbolt and the key end lock below it. So is it safe to assume that you just won't lock the bottom one? Then rely on the one smart dead bolt only for that door? Am I missing something? Thank you

My bottom knob doesn't have a lock. This is typical with sets that have dead bolts.

@@SimplySmart123 I meant at 2:35 you have a keyed knob. That's how it seems like anyway. That's why I was wondering. So that doesn't get used after installing this? Thanks

You are correct. We never use the bottom lock on the knob.

I am trying to configure my new yale lock with Alexa. In the smart things app when I try to add the yale device it is saying I don't have a hub. I have like 8 Alexa echo dots and several echo shows in my house aren't those hubs? What am I missing? Do you have to purchase a separate smart hub other than Alexa? Thanks

To add this device to smart things you will need a smart things hub.

I am getting the same error message in smart things. Do I need a Yale Connect Hub or can I just use a Hub Zigbee Tuya?
When I click to add the zigbee module, I get a message telling me I need to register a hub. I have the Yale Connect Hub, but I can't find any way to add it to Smart Things. The only way I have found to register the hub is with Yale Access, but Yale Access tells me I need to register the lock before registering the hub. But then it fails to detect the zigbee module. So now here I am trying to register the module in Smart Things, but then it tells me I need a hub ! How can I break out of this impossible loop ?

Do you have a SmartThings hub? Your SmartThings hub is how you communicate with Zigbee and Zwave.
How long does the battery last.

Depends on usage but years.
Does this lock support geo fencing?

If you smart things you can have your this lock unlock and lock based on your phones location.

You can use blue tooth and your phone but it's not true geo fencing as it will not lock when you leave.
will this work with my echo plus without the need for smartthings?

If you get the Zigbee Model it should work. If ordering from Amazon just make sure it says compatible with your Alexa devices
