No; not yet. Query. Is this watch a stand-alone from a bicycle computer? Or, need to by both? Thanks in advance! Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #KeepBiking

I just use a watch, I upgraded to a fenix 6s from a forerunner and that does the job just as well!
I'm using the Garmin Instinct Solar. It's got all the important features a regular user like myself would need. Bonus points for great battery life at half the price (maybe less) of the fenix. Highly recommended.
I've been trying to find a video with information on whether this watch was worth buying for someone who only rides mtb, and this has just sold it for me!🤟🏾 gmbn saves the day yet again with an informative video! Easily the best mtb content out there 👌🏾

I have a Suunto gps watch that I use for mountain biking, road biking, hiking, running, etc. And I love it. Hard to beat the versatility and capability and I wear it as my every day watch as well since it will do smart notifications. Highly recommend a quality gps watch even if it's just for mtb

Just remember this is a sponsored video so they aren't going to say it's bad. I'm not saying it's bad either though
I’ve got the same watch you demoed. I wanted to get my computer off my bars. 80% of the time I like it better and it’s convinced me to wear a watch for the first time in my life. My only criticism is the heart rate monitor is flaky if you are doing high short duration intervals.
Still using my fenix 3hr. Great watch, does everything I've asked from it, big days out on the bike to even bigger ultra marathons.
Thanks for the ideas
Good insight that Neil, thanks buddy
Some great tips!
My favourite app is Garmin Explore. I've made it my personal mission to colour in the whole map near where I live. I've found so many new trails this way.

I did the same thing. It's addictive too. I find myself doing it everytime I discover a new place to ride.
I just recently got a Fenix 7X and it works amazing. I go hiking and riding and it has never failed me yet. I upload custom courses for riding and hiking on the watch and now can leave my phone at home.
I think the best things to have with my Fenix is that quickfit bike mount and heart rate monitor strap. This way I can have watch on the bar and wrist free while riding. While on ride besides maps it is great to have sunset time easily on hand. Especially in winter when sun sets really quickly.
Great video love my forerunner.

I'm using my fit bit ace . and it is great for MTB
What app did you use to load the trails onto the watch please
Love my Garmin watch, but a 1000m climb, your killing me..😁
Should have mentioned the SOS / emergency functions of the Garmin Fenix! It even has crash detection and can alert preset contacts.
@jumbleross

But make sure you start a bike ride activity as crash detection is disabled on mtb activity

When I‘m out for a walk and trying playing with my dog the alarm goes of all the time. Quite annoying!
I have a Garmin Venu I use for most of my activities. My Garmin Edge 530 bike computer records most of my rides though, but I use the watch as a HR monitor (setting it to broadcast HR to my computer). Also when at the bike park, I use the watch only. Wouldn't want to smash the bike computer into the ground if I go OTB.
Which Garmin watch works with mtb, i want to use it alongside a Garmin explore?
Big fan
Kind of unrelated question... noticed you were riding a Canyon Spectral and you are about my height... what size is the frame of that bike.
Used a tactix Bravo for a bit. Was just too large. Changed to a vivosport and it's been much better. Not all the same capabilities but barely noticeable and does what I need.
I have the Fenix 6 I have a custom face and have swimming and MTB specific apps (including Komoot) pretty sure mine doesn’t support Spotify which is a bit of a bummer.

can you use a watch for navigation ? I dont have a bike computer and htinking about a watch
Good massseh
I'm using a Garmin Instinct. I use it for everything walking, hiking, mtbing, running, and regular everyday stuff. Basically i only take it off to shower and sleep. lol
What was the name of the navigation app?

Komoot 😊
double tap the light button (top left) Neil, activates the torch 😎
One question I had about the watch is to do with the incident detection, if you have a crash and it sends a notification to your emergency contacts, do you have to have your phone connected to the watch for this function to work??👀

The forerunner 945 LTE has that and if you subscribe can contact emergency services or contact when you don't have cell service. But you can't make calls like Samsung or Apple LTE

I'm in NZ, sorry didn't check other countries. Another reason I got garmin was for Trail forks navigation when I explore new areas 😎
Love my Instinct…enough features for me and not a ton of $. Phone battery can be saved.
im always too excited to start pedaling that i forget i have a smart watch on.
Garmin needs to add Ebike to their activity list.
Im using garmin 530, not watches, dont like any watches bcs under them my arm are always sweaty and i hate this :-(
I think we need to see more videos if Neil running... Did not look comfortable doing that 🤣
I’m sure you already know this, but don’t start your smart watch at home, or set your actual house as your destination, if you plan to upload the ride to a public platform. Thieves use it to work out where you live to nick your bike.
It's not the greatest idea to not run without a phone, if something happens and you need to contact someone your phone is so important. Particularly for those in remote areas or if come across someone whose not as friendly as we expect (tried to work out how to put that politely!). Yes sometimes it's nice to shut off but it's worth thinking of safety: the incident alerts contacts other but that's not always 100% and mind has gone off with me tapping my leg.
am i first this time
I would use one. I would never pay what they want for one😂 I’ll stick to using my iPhone
Why are you runnin?
If only they werent that expensive…. We poor mountainbikers need to cheap-out soˇe alternatives haha
Just came to know that Neil's a leftie... Don't know how that matters though... 😂
To broke to get a watch spent to much on the bike

Priorities in order mate! If I can buy a descent hardtail or a a smartwatch... Well guess what 😁
Seems like you aren't that much of a runner, are you?
Pretty well useless if you're farsighted! Bring one lens with you to use when stopped?!
£600, I'll just keep using my phone with Strava, like I have done for years
Sry disliked my first ever gmbn video. Garmin watches are sports/survival watches and not considered smart watches.... Smart watches are like the Samsung, Apple watches etc. A smart watch is a phone around your wrist, with lousy battery life, high resolution screens (hence the bad battery life). Meant to pickup calls, reply to whatsapp with typing back (not preset messages like Garmin). With my Garmin Fenix 6x Sapphire, I can go off grid for like a month, still able to use survival features if needed. Good luck doing that with an Apple watch 😂
