Prepaid eSIMs are a game changer for iPhone users that want to go dual-SIM, with both Globe and Smart at the same time. Just make sure your phone supports eSIMs, before you make a purchase. P.S. disregard what I said about the blurry QR code. I re-downloaded the image and it was crystal clear. Although it makes no difference either way.

Globe prepaid esims takes forever lol! Man I hate hoarders! Like how they hoarded home wifis and ps5s then, it took me some time just to get the actual product with msrp but what pissed me the most is during the pandemic where GPU prices were just ridiculous and there wasn't anything that can be done to get a gpu at msrp

Is the Smart eSIM can be used on Apple Watch cellular? Apple website says it only supports Globe for Apple Watch.

A family member came home from the states, iPhones there only support esims, no physical slot. we had to get the smart esim for 600, incredible

I wish smart would also offer the option to convert their current/old physical sims to esim.

They claim that they'll allow that in the future for prepaid users. I bet they can already do it. But probably it would be a manual process. So maybe they don't want to make it an option, until they manage to automate it.

I'm honestly low-key anxious about losing my prepaid SIM with the number I've had for 12 years. It would be a nightmare to regain access to all my existing 2fa accounts

As long as you've gone through the SIM registration process, you're meant to be able to walk into any Smart Store (with your Government issued ID) and get a replacement SIM issued with the same number, in the case it gets broken, lost or stolen. So I assume that even if something somehow went wrong in a conversion process, they should be able to recover the number. Like right now, if you lose your phone that holds the eSIM, you won't be able to install it onto a new phone, because you can't delete it from the old phone. So their process is for you to go to their store, they disable the eSIM completely and then transfer the eSIM number onto a physical SIM. They say in the future they'll be able to issue a new eSIM QR code with the same number. But for now, they just put it on a physical SIM.

My iPhone 14 plus is on Dual Sim now. Post paid for Calls and Text. And Prepaid for Data. Saves me a lot. 99 per gb kasi Postpaid. 13 per gb on prepaid.

I was able to get mine after 2 months' worth of wait but happy that I didn't buy off scalpers

My mom recently bought herself an iPhone 14 Pro Max while she was in the U.S. a few months ago. She's upgrading from her 8-year old 6S Plus. Since it came from the US, it's eSIM only. We tried waiting two weeks, until we gave in and bought one for ₱300 pesos. We were thinking that at least, we don't have to waste gasoline to drive all over the province just to find one. Then two weeks later, Smart were finally selling them ₱99 and has online delivery. Oh well, at least it's good for other consumers.

It's really easy. You delete the eSIM from the 1st phone and then scan the same original QR code on the 2nd phone.

How is the service from the esim? Have you tried the mobile data? Is it faster? How about calls/texts? Is it with good reception? Thanks

It's identical to a regular physical SIM. A physical SIM and eSIM operate exactly the same once installed. The only difference is the way you install them. One is installed by inserting the SIM into the phone, and the other is installed by "downloading" it onto the phone. You won't notice any difference between the two.

If your phone is locked to a specific network, this wont work unfortunately.

if my Phone is Smart locked, can i acquire an eSIM from Smart, then plug in a Physical Globe sim so the phone doesn't get locked?

Unfortunately it would still be locked to smart, so the glove Sim wouldn't work If you've already completed the minimum term of your contract with smart, you can ask them to unlock the phone

How about the carrier locked phone? Will it support E-Sim for other carrier?

The eSIM won't bypass any network lock. If your handset is locked to a specific network, you're stuck with them until it's unlocked.

Most phones I've seen and used, only support a maximum of two active SIMs at a time - whether they're physical, esim or a mix. So most likely, you won't be able to have 2 physical SIMs + 1 eSIM enabled at the same time. If you let me know your phone model, I could check Google.

In the old days, scammers would buy up ( almost ) all available tickets for concerts and such, as soon as they became available for sale . You couldn't buy any tickets. Then a few days before the event, these ticket " scalpers " would sell them for more than 2x, sometimes up to 10x their actual price ! It's really an old scam. I wish the authorities would do something about it.

This is what I do. I use one physical sim and an eSim. 4:30 maybe use a mirror to scan the QR code on your phone?

eSIMs are really more convenient. Especially if you're traveling and you want to swap between SIMs. No more removing them and then forgetting where you put them 😅

I asked a friend back in the US if he wanted the SIM card as it still has 2-3 weeks of prepaid service in it. He said yes, and I was able to message him the QR code and he was able to activate it without mailing him the SIM.

Do anyone knows if I can convert my old number to ESIM?

Smart doesn't yet allow you to convert a prepaid physical SIM into an eSIM - or to transfer the number. They say that will be an option in the future.

I remember before, someone asked if they could activate this SIM while abroad. And they told me it worked.. Their family member had bought the eSIM in a store, here in the Philippines. Then they sent the photo of the QR code to their relative in America. The relative in America was able to scan the QR code and install the Smart eSIM onto their phone. But they still had to go through the SIM registration process.

You can! But you have to pay P5,000 for the first drive. And just forget about the second or third time, unless you really don't like driving 😅

My phone lets me have multiple eSIMs installed. But I can only have one activated at any time. So I can swap between my eSIMs as much as I want. But only one of them can be active. And of course I can have my physical SIM active at the same time as the eSIM - giving me dual-SIM. Some phones do it slightly differently.

It's really dependent on the phone model. There are newer phones that support two eSIMs at the same time. My phone is an older model. But for me, I'm okay with having one network as a physical SIM, and then a different network as the eSIM.

Hoarders as well as scalpers are modern day criminals.

Esims should be free. Charging for an esim is a scam... The esim is already inside of the phone. You are basicaally just buying a QR code with provisioning information/settings...
