Tv show is called Station 19 and this is season 3 episode 13. Ted was living with his new wife, Inara, and her son, Marcus. Marcus witnessed Ted hitting his mother and turned the burners on to fill the house with gas. Then his mother called 911 to report a gas leak. The firefighters responded to the calls, which happened three times in a single week. During the third call, they became suspicious that something more serious was going on, especially after Jack saw Inara signing to Marcus that daddy had calmed down. Jack separated Marcus and Inara from Ted and used sign language to learn the truth about what was happening, including that Inara didn't have anywhere else to take Marcus. She also said she'd called the police the first time it happened, but Ted convinced them she was overreacting and he'd locked her in a closet for eleven hours that night. Once he knew the truth, Jack helped Dean stall Ted while Inara went inside and packed a bag. Then they lied to Ted and said it was safe for him to stay in the house but not for Marcus and Inara to stay with him. While he was disputing this, they noticed flames in a room in the house. The fire was quickly extinguished and Ted believed that Marcus started it. When the firefighters witnessed him grabbing Marcus and yelling at him, they pulled him away. Jack then took Inara and Marcus to Marsha's house instead of to the hospital as he'd told Ted, freeing them from him.

If you are truly deaf then in return you are mute because you have never been able to hear anything to understand how to speak. I was thankful only mostly deaf so I have been able to speak with people just have to read lips to make it easier for me.

@@jimmiefitzgerald4961mute implies no sound. Deaf people can make sound. Some Deaf people may not be able to speak to your standard or they may just choose not to speak, I know lots of Deaf people who can speak but choose not too.

There is a story in Asia where a man commits a crime and ran away and changed his name and everything else to not get arrested. One of the things he did was to act mute and after 15 years he finally got caught. When he was trying to defend himself he realized he could no longer speak becoming truly mute.

However people who are Deaf 99% of the time can still make sound/ talk to some degree. Even when a Deaf person chooses not to talk on a regular basis they are still not considered mute because they can still make sound.

It pays to know sign language. It's another language, just like Spanish, German or Italian. You NEVER know when it will come in handy for helping someone. I know, I was deaf once myself for 4 months and needed to learn how to speak it. Doug👍🎉😇

Sad fact: A few hearing parents with Deaf children don’t learn sign language, those kids have never had their parents say I love you to them. My ASL teacher was an interpreter and that was the reason she stopped being an interpreter and became a teacher

Usually, the root cause of @buse is the person was abused as well. I agree with you in some cases therapy and retraining would fix a large number of DA. In some cases though they would just go along with the program in order to get out of trouble then it will be business as usual after that. I steal believe that it would still help enough to be worth it.

I haven’t seen the show, however, the fire fighter should have called a legal interpreter for the boys statement about the abuse. Just because you know sign language, doesn’t mean you can interpret. I’m glad for the representation for the Deaf, but they need to show interpreters too.
