    Henry James Olsen= smartest man in smallville history, only person to figure it out all on their own.

    I’d say Jimmy and Lois both worked it out, but Jimmy managed it with the least obvious leads. Jimmy worked it out as an investigator would, Lois figured it out largely by her heart.

    But there would’ve been another dilemma!! Jor - El said to Clark that things happen for a reason, by no means interfere with time in order to change them unless at the expense of creating something far worse

    @@mattkylie6723 I don’t think the OP was referring to Chloe’s request to use the Legion ring, rather that if Clark had admitted the truth to Jimmy here, it would have changed a lot of events that came after.

    @@Melissa.Garrett but do you remember the Smallville season 6 episode Promise, where Clark uses Jor-el’s offer to change time and in the process teaches him that it’s very precious but dangerous!! as he at his full potential could indeed play with time if something were to happen as it dose in the 78 version of the movie when Lois dies!!! the lesson is that although Kal-El has amazing abilities his choices will never the less bare the same consequences regardless, unless of course he uses his head and not his heart!!! but naturally we all know that’s what makes Superman so special

    This Jimmy is NOT the Jimmy Olsen of Superman lore. This is actually his older brother Henry James Olsen. And Telcontar, Clark is able to disuade him for most of the season, but Jimmy finds out in Doomsday when he notices Clark's reaction to Green K.

    Keep thinking that. Aaron Ashmore's character was brought in as THE Jimmy Olsen and was featured in a special on the season 7 DVD set (if not season 7 then season 6) where he was compared to the other actors who played live action versions of Jimmy. That would not have been done at the time if they meant him to not be THE Jimmy Olsen. The Jimmy of Superman lore never ever had an older brother named Henry James Olsen. The truth is that the writers and producers did a bonehead move by killing him because they didn't have the balls to kill or write Chloe off the show in season 8. They had a limited budget and would not be needing Davis in season 9 because they wanted to do the Kandorian plot as a nod to the New Krypton storyline in the comics and didn't have enough money in the budget so they had to get rid of Davis & 1 other character. That other character should have been Chloe but since they didn't have the balls to kill her off and make her pay the price of her character's sins of season 8, they instead chose to kill a canon character in Jimmy off and pull off the dumbest retcon ever (even worse than the Veritas shit of season 7) and create a bullshit Henry James Olsen character and all of a sudden make the character who was originally intended to be *the* Jimmy into another character. It was a gutless move and stupid beyond all belief. There was nothing wrong with having Jimmy know Clark's secret in Smallville or him being the same age as Clark. The show took many other freedoms with Lana, Lex, Chloe, etc. and Jimmy was a very likeable character who had great chemistry with Clark & Lois and even Pete the one time they interacted in season 7 whereas Chloe as a character had gotten annoying and was ruined once she learned Clark's secret. I hated her by season 5 but her actions in season 8 made many others despise her. By season 9 she had become a complete distraction & unnecessary.

    Everyone complains about how Lana coming back ruined season 8, but honestly, not letting Jimmy in on the secret and killing him off was a bigger one. Chloe and Jimmy could have still had their marital issues (sans addiction) and grown stronger because of it. Clark would have had another friend, just as die-hard loyal as Chloe, and Chloe in turn would have someone to share the burden with.

    I wondered for a long while why Lois took so long to figure it out while Jimmy figured it out in a day when Lois is an investigative reporter. Then I realized that Lois is a badass. All of CK’s heroics feel normal to her because she comes on the scene in S4 and starts knocking out military trained dudes like they’re kittens, so she never sees similar behavior from Clark as extraordinary. They’re just mere mortals, to her, adventuring together. She’s got a blind spot because she’s too close. I don’t know why she was more suspicious of Oliver.

    Introducing Jimmy to Smallville was a terrible idea. Jimmy is supposed to be a teenage when Superman is already in flying around Metropolis.

  • @wtcvidman

    @wtcvidman

    By that logic Lucy Lane should not have been introduced either since she was Jimmy's girlfriend in the comics and Lex should've never been in the show either since he doesn't deal with Clark until he's Superman. That argument would be cherry picking what parts of the Superman canon to include in the show and the way I see it they should've either been completely open to changing certain elements of the Superman canon for the show or follow the canon 100%. The writers & producers being selective with what they wanted to change and then using the canon as an excuse for doing bullshit like killing off Jimmy and mindwiping Lex in the Finale was complete bullshit & hypocrisy when plenty of things did not follow canon after it was all said & done.
