SmallRig RC 60B First Impressions | Tiny But Mighty!

Ғылым және технология

Lighting is EVERYTHING in video and photography. So why is it always an afterthought? Well, lighting tends to be big, cumbersome, and super expensive. That changes with the SmallRig RC 60B. This tiny video light is impressive! Tune in for my initial thoughts.

This pocket cob is pretty dope. But the price is a little high to me and the light modifiers they offer are not good at all. In comparison to ulanzi that, albeit, has a 40w light, but with more/better quality light modiers (including barn doors, a really nice octagonal softbox WITH a grid, and a lantern to name a few). Plus its half the price for only 20 watts less power and way better light modifiers. I can get two of those for the price of one of these essentially. Plus the modifiers are nice and affordable to boot

If I need another one of these, I'll have to look into the Ulzani! The lack of light modifiers is a huge pain for the SmallRig. I wonder what the differences in long-term durability will be like for both. I'll be traveling with the SmallRig quite a bit so it'll definitely be a good test for it. Do you have the Ulzani?

@@KenCreates ya thats really what drew me to the ulanzi. It's modifiers are official! Barn doors, a really well built octagonal with a nice grid! And the best one imo, is a lantern softbox. Like a proper well built one. That would allow you to really stretch the potential of this tiny light. You'd be able to have a proper key light in a pinch imo. Plus they offer a usb-c adapter and a mini bowens to regular bowenss adapter. And honestly the best part is they're all affordable

@@akyerit I definitely foresee the need for another small and compact light at some point for myself so I'll probably get an Ulzani and do a shootout between the two.

@@KenCreates and to me the advantage is in the light modifiers, because obviously the the 60 watt light is already better on paper. But the difference of price between the two and what the 40 watt offers, lies in the great selection of affordable, and better quality light modifiers that allow one to shape and create light in more usable ways. Also I've seen other companies make mini bowens mount accessories. But ulanzi makes them very affordable and of really great quality from what I can tell.
