Tito, check the new Pd movie live air 2S. Battery is internal and small, can be ejected and charged. Focus wheel is tiny for smooth 1 finger operated on-cam op or can be converted to a bigger AC FF. Lasts hours, no cables and the best feature, it handles very very heavy moving lenses.

I have a Nano and it’s a great basic tool for wireless focus in a pinch. I would upgrade to the Nucleus-M if it didn’t seem like more advanced focus aid systems are just over the horizon. DJI’s LiDar and “focus waveform” on the Ronin 4D looks like a game changer even for manual operation, with the added benefit of reliable auto on manual lenses for those especially grueling shots.

I am thinking a stand alone tof LiDAR will have to come from someone other than Dji. Guessing they might want to protect the sales of their 4d camera, and you will never get a beast rig on the rs3 pro, and the ronin is just big for a lot and of people. I’d give it at least a yeay

Am I correct that when in wired mode the signal goes over the wire and no longer wireless? Therefore it becomes possible to use a 10 foot USB cable to have some follow the camera pulling focus? A solution that would be especially useful in a hospital. Where you're not allowed to use 2.4ghz wireless systems? Asking for me, not a friend.

Wow, I don't know, but might be a thing! I know some cables lose power and accuracy over distance (HDMI and DisplayPort are known for it), but I don't know if it's the case for USB!

I’ve used the Tilta Nucleus Nano for over two years and it’s turned every lens I own. If I can turn the lens by hand it can turn it. The torque increases with voltage and it can handle over 14V. I’ve also never had the motor slip on the rod mount. If it skips on the gears it’s because the rod or lens isn’t secure. This SmallRig system looks okay, but I already see some issues. First off, it looks like both the motor and wheel are larger and heavier than the Tilta. If this system doesn’t offer any real benefits over the Tilta, that’s an immediate downside. The internal battery idea is bad. Is it replaceable? What if I forget to charge it? Can I power it externally? If it’s lithium ion I’ll have to carry it onboard the plane when I fly. That’s another thing to carry in my already heavy bag. I’d try it out, but I’m not going to pay for a new product when my current one performs 💯

-I don't think batteries are replaceable. -It can be charged externally both through the wheel itself and also while connected to the handgrip. -Good point on having to carry the wheel with you but it's not that heavy. I have the nano nucleus, personally I always had issues with it. This system has been working like a charm for me. To each their own though!

I considered selling my Nucleus M after playing with this for a bit, but the M kit I have gives me more options (has more pieces) than this one, so I ended up not parting with it. But if I was torn between the two and had none, I think I'd go for the SmallRig at this point.

Every youtuber claims this has higher torque, but when you look at the actual numbers provided by the manufacturers, this smallrig wireless focus only delivers a torque of 0.5 Nm, while the Nucleus Nano has a torque of 0.65 Nm (both in battery mode). I would be thankful if anyone could clarify this, are the numbers wrong? Also Tilta recently announced the next version of the Nano, which is supposed to be cheaper and better (whatever that means), so I would definitely wait before buying this.
