Driving down a small back, country road and finding a campsite right on a small stream and having that whole stream all to yourself. When you fish that small stream all day and catch a lot of 10 inch trout Well I say it doesn’t get any better than that.

Literally what I live for sometimes.
I spent a year watching videos with hope that I would find a way to move to the black hills. Now we found a way and I’m pulling 6-8 trout a day out of the creek every day and I barely know 1% of what I’m doing. That’s for all the videos !!
By far and away my favorite trout fishing activities. Small streams rock.
Great video. I did a lot of that in my boyhood home in central Pennsylvania. Now I’m preparing for some summer trips now in headwaters with my 2 german shorthairs and Fourwheel camper in mountain west.

As a youngster, Pop and I would go fishing on Stoney Creek, not far from Ft. Indiantown Gap. I too am out west now, and enjoy it immensely, but do remember those trips fondly.
Total respect for this type of adventure fly fishing 🙏🎣
I appreciate videos like this one. Where I grew up in Northeast Iowa, we don’t have many proper trout rivers. Small streams with a ton of overhanging trees and shrub covered banks are the name of the game.
I’ve been hooked on this small creek stuff for a few years now, love the solitude & the lil Brookies Great Video
Thank you for this video. I'm a big fan of small streams in the back country where nobody is at! Would really like to watch more videos like this. God Bless n fish on!
This was already part of the guide to fly fishing series. Must be a new edit. Great episode either way. Love the production value Tom and the team provide. I know Tom already covers prospecting pretty well in the series, but it would be fun to see more videos on prospecting a stream from start to finish. Finding prospective water, figuring out flies and rigs to try first and all the trial and error that is included.
Another excellent video from the great Tom Rosenbauer, really enjoyed watching, thanks for sharing, tight lines
I fished a small creek in the upper peninsula of Michigan last year and used the bow and arrow cast almost exclusively. 7-9 inch fish mostly with one maybe over 10”. Lost my hat twice and ripped my waders. Tore the wind dam off my truck getting there. All in all, one of my best days on the water.
Really full of useful tips!!! Thank you soooo much. Love your videos!
Dont get me wrong, harvesting a good sized trout is an amazing feeling, but these small streams are just a good way to unwind. Gotta love them.
I really like small stream fishing. This video it´s very usefull!
Very good tips and video Tom and Orvis! I fly fish and do videos on many small streams in North Central PA. I love the excitement of finding something unexpected. All the tactics I use you mentioned in this video. Maybe one you missed was fishing after a rain storm or higher water flows. A lot of your clips made it appear flows were up. Small streams fish really well when water levels are up!
Thanks that was a really complete, informative and beginner friendly.
Small streams are the jam!
Tom, I think I could watch a video of you making a sandwich 😅. You've got a great presentation (pun intended) and I really enjoy your fishing videos. ☮
I fly fish wild streams in New Jersey, and their are no one around I have caught 2lb trout in these small stream, my best day was 24 trout in about 6 hrs on the stream..
Awesome information I enjoyed watching this video Thanks
Very enjoyable thanks
I've had quite the opposite experience, with small (2-8 foot in diameter) stream native trout being quite the picky and hard to sneak up on target. the cutthroat, Redbands, and bulls I fish do not like being caught and small dries and midges are the only way I can manage to provoke bites some days.
Such a shame Orvis discontinued making the Superfine Carbon rods
So at far glance the camera had Pete looking like he was shirtless in overalls ready for his moonshiners debut.
Hi what kind of rod and line He use in rollcast?
Sir kindly send me the list or names of nymphs and flies for trout rainbow
