Training in this fire condition saves so many lives. Fire can be a tricky and sneaky beast. Keep up the good work in the training. You all are heroes and the bravest of the brave.

The bottle has water inside & at some stage I will squirt a jet in towards the base. You could be forgiven for thinking it is fuel as a small fire ball comes out of the top of the opening. A jet (or spray) forced into the base of the opening entrains air which is forced out through the top. We cool the outside of the opening and the gases with pulses of water before attacking. See the link in the video description of more information. Reply ·

Hi, Is it possible to get the dimensions of your doll house fire simulator? I would like to build on to demonstrate fire behavior to my fire science class. Thank You

Hi cd. You prompted me to upload it to my website. Go to cfbt-international.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58&Itemid=54 The plan is in metric but the 2400 mm x 1220 mm x 16 mm particle board sheet equates to a standard 8' x 4' x 2/3" sheet of particle board. So you should get 3 dolls houses from 1 sheet and the off cuts will add to the 'cribbing'. I have also included a link to a session plans which lays out all the items you need and a suggest topic flow. Don't be discouraged if it does not go perfectly on your first attempt. It is somewhat of an art and to be honest it took me about 8 attempts before I could consistently produce all of the FBI and fire phenomena. If I have not delivered the demo for a while it takes me 2 or 3 sessions to get it perfect. Backdraft is the most challenging to reproduce consistently. The key is to let the fire develop to a high enough temperature with out the box burning through. Let me know how you go. If you want to send me a video of you sessions I will be happy to give you a critique. I did not invent this prop (originated in Sweden in the 1970's) and I don't claim to be the best practitioner, but I have enough experience to give you some good guidance. Regards, Shan
