The Big issues with MDC is 0 weather proofing under neath and no resistance to cold, lack of walkable roof and access, bad plumbing, slightly undersized solar capacity and typical cheap Chinese construction. Oh those annoying cabinet latches.... Designs are nice, frame and suspension are bombproof. I have been living with an East West for 1.5 years and use it for work as well.

Great, compact layout and setup for a solo traveler! Amazing what can be accomplished when the goal isn't to cram in a family of 6 + dog and waste all that precious space on bunk beds and table conversions. Wish we could see more like this one.

This is a really nice Overland Setup; however, at 62K USD and 4500 lbs dry, no freaking way. I tow my VRF flyer (1800 Lbs) through the wilderness with my Bronco Raptor and I know its there the entire time. I couldn't imagine one of these loaded at 6000 Lbs trying to climb a hill or crossing a creek. It is without a doubt a beautiful trailer.

@@robertwilson1827I won’t say I have done extensive research, but I’ve been looking for a good 6 months. Reviewing and comparing a lot of them. This is a stand up, little moving parts and no nonsense gadgetry. Less things to break or go wrong. Great suspension, where the others are rubber on rubber for off-road. If you’re like me looking for an off-road RV and not having to deal with “setting up” and things to deteriorate in a few years like hybrids, this would be it. I find this is a very simple RV, that will get you out there and give you some creature comforts. I’ve personally checked out the 15HR and was very pleased with what I saw. Unfortunately it’s a little too heavy for my truck, that’s why I have been cross comparing the 12HR with other stand up, hard shelled off road RVs which far and few. The other one I love a lot is the BRS Pursuit, but that’s twice the price of this unit, then again you get what you pay for. This definitely is a bang for your buck off road RV.

I have a 200 ampere-hour Lithium on my MDC camper--but it is not so much the size of the battery that determines the current draw. It is the TYPE of battery. My 3 old 100 ampere-hour lead-acid batteries one could draw well over 100 amps--but for a Lithium storage system you need to buy the battery size that allows for the maximum current you wish to draw therefrom, and the length of time you wish to draw that current. I use a two KVA inverter on mine and I also use a different charger than original charger because of the need to charge Lithium batteries, which were not an option on the original charger. For an air conditioner in a hot climate during the day, that usually means TWO three hundred ampere-hour LiFePO4 batteries in parallel if the BMS allows it, or through a parallel switching arrangement common draw circuit if it does not. Most of the mods to my Cruizer High-Side which I made, based on my own requirements, are now standard issue on the new models. That includes thermostat-controlled forced filtered ventilation in the refrigerator compartment, diesel hearing for the interior, gas-strut canopy elevation, external lift-up shower enclosure, and heavy duty shower pump and extra stream-water biological filtration if one ever needs top up the tanks in a remote location. For getting into strange places, choose the appropriate model. There is no other trailer like them. When the track ends--then you make it your base camp and pack your tent in your Mountain Mule pack and start hiking to the geographic extremes. You will have a soft bed and comfort when you return.

That’s a neat trailer but it’s more of a gravel road campground trailer. There’s a reason I have a patriot x3 and it’s been through a lot with mud and rocks and off camber it’s been places that trailer is not designed to go. That’s like a lot of other “off-road” trailers that are designed to get in on the off-road trailer trend like the jayco and many others. Good review and video though

This is definitely more capable than a Jayco. MDC is not jumping on a trend and has been making trailers for almost twice as long as Patriot. MDC has been making off road trailers for almost 20 years and have delivered more off road products than any other manufacturer into the Australia outback. Patriots are extremely small tent trailers and are very capable but MDC has trailers equally capable as Patriots. 😊

Yeah, no. It’s very top heavy. I’d hate to drive that thing during heavy winds. The body of it appears to sit way to high over the axle as well. Wouldn’t take much to lay that thing on it side especially bouncing around off the pavement. They could have lower the ceiling height a couple 3 inches to help somewhat with that. From what I could see the “kitchen” area has very little awning covering it and zero cover for the refrig. I’d bet money that’s not a real queen size bed either. Highly likely it’s an “RV” queen which are several inches shorter. Hard pass for me.

  • @ROAOffRoad

It is not top heavy. The trailer is made of aluminum materials and it makes light weight overall. It is balanced very good. We just towed this unit hundreds of miles in extremely high winds on I-80. Also took it off road and never felt like it was tippy. It looks tall in the video but is not that much in real life. It mattress is 80” long by 57” wide.
