Amber was honestly constantly disrespected solely because of her style. There are people mad at her for not revealing her sexuality because apparently, every masc woman owes people their business about who they like, she went through sexual assault because people were curious about what's "underneath her clothes", was called undesirable for "looking like a guy" also did go through an eating disorder, girl went through so much and my heart always hurts for her every time I hear her stories

@Trinity M you're right, the effects are totally different for a company and a person, especially since SM employs so many people, you'd think they'd have learned through the years that they need to treat their idols better, so I'm sorry, as someone who has been invested with multiple SM acts who have been through the wringer, I hate SM, if people join the hate bandwagon that's their decision, and they probably have their own reasons

FX was one of THE most influential groups that can be seen in the girl groups of today (along with 2NE1). Without FX we wouldn’t have such groups like Red Velvet, Loona, ITZY, G-Idle, dream catcher etc. There’s a little bit of “weird” in K-pop and FX was one of the pioneer groups for its place in the industry that can still be felt today. The original “Dalla Dalla” if you will. Miss these girls so much!

No because let’s really talk about IT! Pink Tape alone has shaped the sound of K-pop forever since its release. From 3rd gen to now, the influence of Pink Tape is so strong that its sound has become a standard for a lot of groups. Red Light is definitely underrated as well just because of the amount of things that happened during the promotion period like I can’t think of another girl group who has done a dark concept like that. Releasing 3 classic albums from back to back is insane. At this point, I feel like aespa is the reincarnation of f(x). Their leader is literally a MeU and most of their songs are something that you’d hear from f(x) since it’s so experimental.

The closest I can compare to f(x) is aespa tbh. Obvs SM is showing us theyre the final output from the "experiments" BUT THEN AGAIN, aespa's songs are just too lit for me. Honestly, they exhaust me like I can;t explain it. I love them but I don't wanna listen to them again type because it's too much to listen to. There's none of that tho unique, but fairness and satisfaction in each of the ones that we have in f(x) songs.

To SM, F(X) is a stain on the wall that they'll never be able to wash away. The group is a prime example on how not to treat your idols, and what it's like when you're not a SM fave. Those girls deserved better, Sulli especially. She had little to no support from the company when it came to her mental health issues + the bullying. I'm sure Krystal especially felt some type of way after what happened to her sister, too. It's all so messy, but I'm genuinely happy that the girls are doing better, and I hope that Sulli is resting peacefully. I still get all fucked up thinking about what happened to her. :( Thanks for the video, I really appreciate it as a fan 😭

What makes their treatment disappointing as a fan is that Red Velvet and Aespa are CLEARLY a result of f(x). I always say f(x) ran so red Velvet could fly. I remember when RV first debuted and I was upset bc their songs sounded like f(x) b sides. All they did was make them more "feminine" but the whimsical experimental mixed with cute concept was just copy paste. I am now a big RV fan but it was and still is a slap in the face. I understand fully why the girls were so frustrated with their label and honestly it leads me to believe that they were intentionally being hindered. Someone high up was upset and tried their best.

f(x) was so ahead of their time it's not even a joke. SM really managed to make one of the greatest girl groups that could have reached incredible heights without even knowing it. Even if you listen to Pink Tape, Red Light, and 4 Walls now, I don't think you could tell that these albums were released 7+ years ago. To this day, I still consider myself a MeU and listen to their albums regularly. It was a shame they were so mismanaged compared to SM's other groups, because if they had continued f(x)'s 4 Walls momentum instead of tossing them aside for younger, newer groups, they would undoubtedly still be releasing experimental music to this day.

I don't regret it but it pretty much killed my willingness to stan any other groups (specially GGs). But they will never be forgotten, it doesn't matter how much that fucked up company tries to pretend they never existed. We MeUs will always remember and talk about them. Actually, the female chromosome name thing is a myth. One of the potential group names did have a reference to the x chromosome though. Also, here's some fun facts about F(x)! Luna claimed she was the worst singer in her family which is shocking considering her skills. Luna auditioned with dance and not singing The members all agree Chu~ is their hardest choreography Krystal was the one who pushed for Amber's self composed song "Goodbye Summer" to get released in Pink Tape F(x)'s song "Cash Me Out", released in the album 4 Walls, was actually suppose to be released several years prior in Pink Tape. You can hear it and see the members dancing to the song in Hello F(x). f(x) didn't just change the K-Pop industry by exploring new genres - they changed things by bringing Swedish composers and producers in at a high-level for the first time. IIRC, Pink Tape was the first Big 3 release to be mostly written by Swedes, and that trend still holds today (and is a big driver behind the shift towards EDM-pop).

I can definitely see how they pioneered the coordinated-but-individualistic look we now take for granted in kpop, as opposed to indentical-except-maybe-different-colors. Just a note on the lightstick issue, it was not common for 2nd gen groups to have an official lightstick. Most groups had an official colour and at shows balloons with corresponding color lightstick would be used. Big Bang made having an official lightstick popular and it only much later become a "must" for a group to have one. Therefore companies started giving official lightsticks to older groups based on popularity (and how much the company wanted to keep fans happy).

I started crying at various points during this video. Sometimes for grief and others for pride in the work our girls put into everything they did and continue to do. I've been into Kpop since the end of 2008 so I connected to and bonded to groups like 2NE1 and f(x). Its been bitter sweet to go back and watch MVs and variety shows and concerts because OMG the nostalgia and memories! But so sad that those versions of who we knew are gone forever. I remember saving up from three paychecks to order the Dimension 4 BluRay from YesAsia and I fell even deeper in love with them because that concert is LIT! Still though, I wish Sulli could have been involved. I honestly think f(x) should be required learning for all K-pop fans! :D

Literally one of my favorite groups, they were experimental (which isn’t always my favorite kind of theme with groups, I prefer the one consistent theme and sound kind of thing) however I thought f(c) did everything so well from their vocals to choreography and more, they also introduced us to such beautiful and talented individuals but my god they were underrated, they didn’t even get a concert for such a long time and of the many things that bothered me about how they were promoted and treated as a group there was like a total of 2 dance practice videos and their choreographies were popular as hell. Their company didn’t give a fuuuuuh! I haven’t finished the video btw lol

one of the best groups of all time to me.. they were my ult group before loona and even today i still look for music that sounds similar to what f(x) were putting out, part of the reason why i like billlie so much nowadays too. sm might try to wash them away from their past but meus and kpop fans will never forget and the music industry certainly won't either, all the experimental music you hear today are attempts at recreating what they were doing, there are still f(x) covers being put out today too once in a full moon and it just shows how they weren't the flops some people were describing them as, the impact they had in kpop is too big and their discography will forever be timeless.

I kept looking at the young girl Sulli knowing I recognized her but cldnt figure out from where. I’m not a Kpop fan. I don’t dislike it, I know a few songs and some group names but if my life depended recognizing idols to their group and groups with their songs then.... I realized just before you started to talk about her life after fx that I recognized her for how she chose to leave this world. My 2nd X hubby was a working musician and I was in adult entertainment. As hard as those fields are, I think being an idol is so much harder in every way. From when they start to when they debut and while they’re trying to stay relevant. I think the companies need to help their idols with the emotional & mental stress that can easily overwhelm a person. Being a public figure is always hard. However, in the west famous people do get some privacy and can have lives outside of their fame. This means they can get a break and get help. They have friends and fam members to point out they’re breaking down. However, it seems idols are removed from their family and chosen friends, forced to be perfect and constantly “on”. It’s too much for adults let alone a child.

My introduction to kpop was when f(x) came out with Danger and it was trending on KZread. From there I got into SHINee, SNSD, and Super Junior (and most other 2nd generation groups). For me, being into kpop was mostly a phase for a few years but since then I’ve always kept up to date with f(x) and SHINee once in a while because they just meant so much to me. I can’t believe a member of each one of my favorite groups has passed away. Jonghyuns passing was the first celebrity death that really affected me. I still tear up over it sometimes. And when Sulli passed it hurt all over again. It makes me so sad to think about how much they were hurting. If only there was no stigma against getting mental help, they may still be here. I love them so much and I hope they now know just how much they were loved.

F(x) is forever a legend in K-POP history. I found them late, just after Electric Shock released. They showcase a great example of a multinational group. Sadly, they’re also an example of how bad SM Entertainment treated them in the past. I don’t think they were under the shadow of SNSD because the fact that they have their own taste. Idk why SM just abandoned them. Like, they still gained a huge success with just being an accidental experiment of the agency. So, I believe SM should have invested more effort to them. Perhaps the agency had too many successful talents at that time (Super Junior, SNSD, Shinee, TVXQ, BoA). And Sulli’s death just broke my heart. She was the first talent found for f(x), yet she did not gain enough appreciation for herself. I pray the best for all of them: successful career for Victoria, Luna, Krystal, and Amber, also a peaceful place for Sulli. Thank you f(x) for coloring K-POP industry. You’ll always be loved forever.

They were actually my first touch with kpop because of their cover of Hot Summer, which was a huge hit back in the day here in Germany. Sadly, I didn't follow up with kpop artists because I had so much on my plate at that time and wasn't generally interested in music anymore because of my metal state. Sometimes I'm really sad that I missed so many good groups that others discovered years before me an that I missed so many key moments in this genre of music that just don't have the same feeling to them now as they may had back then (though getting tickets for BTS' first concert in Germany back then was also as much of a hassle as it is now apparently...). Anyway what I wanted to say basically: Even though I didn't have anything to do with kpop at that time and it was wildly unknown to people who listened to mainstream music back then in Germany, they still had an impact to them that I couldn't forget over the years. It was always the same back in my unconsciousness: Going back to that Monrose song I would always remember at the back in my mind that there was an Asian group that did a very good job and made the song even better in my opinion. So the members might not know it but they had a little bit of attention in mainstream back in Germany which is fairly unheard of to my knowledge at that time. :)

Their debut was very controversial because they were the first girl group to debut under SM right after SNSD which was a HUUUUUGE pressure. No gg has been debutted under SM for years bcus SNSD was such a big gg. They are often compared to them wc was ridiculous bc their style is very different. Stanning them is very hard and frustrating because SM just trashes them all the time even tho the were thriving. Fans cant even have the feeling of unity as we were nameless for yearssss. SM really did this grp dirty. Such a waste on the BIG potential. This just made me stop supporting SM in general. Though I still love their artists Also, Pink Tape remains as my top 1 album kpop released EVER. They did this type of aesthetic concept first. Yes, but the biggest difference (i think) are the vocals that came with f(x). Like I really cannot see how SM said "wow, Luna comes from a family of classically trained vocalists so why don't we just ignore all that?" And she's a talented dancer?? Watch her performances on King of Masked Singer (the one with the most views). She's easily the best SM vocalist and still they did not give a care for this group. It will never make sense.

i love f(x). they were my first kpop group and i am so thankful that they and their music helped me grow and continue going through the hardest times. this fresh, experimental image gave me strength to give more freedom to myself. say what you want, but there will always be something that distincts them from the others and their impact is so important to the kpop industry, hell, to the pop and rnb music industry in general. and it's not about "the group that had _insert member_" or "the group that had _insert song_", it's also about their hard work and chemistry. they pushed all the limits and frames together. they will never be replaced be any other older or newer group. they as 5 will forever have a special place in my heart even if i only got into them about a year ago, long after their golden era. now even SM don't list them on their website as their artists, don't re-release their albums, don't celebrate their achievements (that they still get, by the way)... thus helping everyone else to forget about f(x) like it's all a beautiful distant dream. heartbreaking, to say the least. meus, fighting! thank you for staying strong for so long
