"Slytherin House" (RSCDS Book 52)

"Slytherin House" is a 32 bar Strathspey for three couples in a four couple longwise set.

    Danced this recently with Glendarroch Club in Wanganui, New Zealand. Wonderful dance and haunting unforgettable music. Hope we will do it back home at Grantown-on-Spey (hint Neil) and Abernethy (hint Janet) clubs.

    The name tune is called Benrinnes, supposedly "trad" although I can't find a source for it in any historical publication that I have access to. [I assume it's published in Book 52 which I don't have yet.] The recording is by Jimmy Lindsay and his Scottish Dance Band, for the RSCDS Book 52 album. Hope that helps!

    @@FiddlerSteve And "Slytherin"is an obscure Gaelic word,or a reference to Harry Potter?

    @@mikem9001 If you listen carefully, towards the end they interweave Hedwig's Theme (what a lot of people think of as The Harry Potter theme) into the music, so pretty sure its the latter.
