Octavio's design looks a lot better in the final game. His prototype design makes him looks like a kind man who went down the wrong path.

Maybe that was the original idea but decided to steer harder into a no remorse villain to serve as the perfect reason for Murray to cross the line and become “The Murray” again to protect Bentley. Wish we could get the proto design and the energy it gave off in concept to another character in the future

I think the "singing" was a lot better in the prototype don't know why they just let his mouth stale like that instead like the old one

I actually like Octavio prototype, I like to sympathy with villains. But design of Octavio final is better than prototype but I wouldn't mind either if they stayed with the prototype version design.

Octavio was so much more of a threat it’s like two different characters looking at the proto and final.

I will say Octavio's prototype design is quite different to be honest I like both designs but I think the Final design fits more with the opera themed mobster lion than the prototype though I feel the more speedy villain approach fits more with the prototype

I wonder what happened to Sly in the prototype while in the original it was Bentley who got hurt before the Octavo boss battle.

My theory is that originally Octavio hit Sly when the boss battle started. But they switched it to Bentley to give Murray a better motive. After all, Murray blamed himself for Bentley’s legs because he didn’t act fast enough. This time he realized that Bentley would be in more danger if he didn’t act at all.

Which was probably why they had to redesign his physical appearance in the final version.

It's nice to know that his father's friends are still around to tell him old stories. And I like that they became such good friends were to a point Sly's father told swingy about the vault.

His prototype design re-appeared in the beginning of Thieves in Time. He look so much better in the final version, it’s more fitting with the whole mafia formula.

Yep, he lookes like the mafia made him to what he is, but the final Version showed him always very arrogant & pridefull, what sells him as mafia Villian/Boss a WHOLE LOT better.

Glad they changed Octavio's look He's iconic

This is some pretty cool stuff, seeing the differences in design, coloration and the amount of things animated. I always loved these sequences in the sly games. While I do like the animations in sly 4, the old comic book esthetic just fits better. After all, sly was inspired by comics. You can see that influence in the art style and music.

It's the biggest I've ever met in a fantasy animation from the first game. I do like the fourth one more mostly because I felt like I was watching a comic turn to a show.

My god, Octavios prototype design makes him look like a Sgringly noodle

So interesting!! I never even CONSIDERED Sly fighting Octavio! Murray was way better in taking the finale of episode 1. Sly is alright but it was better for Murray to step in and defend Bentley! And Octavio's design was way better in the final product... Seriously the guy before just looked pathetic. Like it's just a poor schmuck down on luck being badly misguided. The actual result was a FEARED mafioso. Like a REAL mobster. That's a Cooper gang antagonist. Someone you want to despise. Make a pleasure to screw things up for them.

Bring back sly cooper dude... We need sly cooper 5 really hard tho

They could have already been there by the time Sly arrived, and its likely baggage that they just aren't wishing to put on Sly as they could have had a much worse reason for being there than just someone's parents being murdered.

Just curious, when it says final build, does that mean retail version? Because I noticed that the cutscene for the Episode 3 intro in the final build was different than the retail version.

Yeah, it's the retail version. They actually changed it in the HD collection, for some reason! Maybe I should do a comparison of all the changes, what they did to that compared to the original PS2 release. :D

So Bentley and Penelope chat room on the left was a prototype 9:47. Because a lot of sly Cooper 3 cut scenes on youtube show Bentley and Penelope chat room scene which seem to be the prototype

OH MY GOD!! MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES WEREN'T WRONG!!! I DID PLAY THE PROTOTYPE!!! HOLY SHIT I REMEMBER ALLLL OF THE PROTOTYPE stuff!! Context: when i got older, i swore when i played this game, things looked alittle different. I brushed it off as just false memories. I didn't bother looking anything up related to it. This got recommended to me today, I AM SO HAPPY i was right!!

How did you play the prototype?

Funny that Sly was the one who was supposed to be knocked out by Octavio. Would've love to see that cutscene! 😛 Plus in the Ps3 version of Flight of fancy. The prototype cutscenes were showed and not the final product!

Man i really like the beta version of Octavio i guess sly was the first to get a taste of Octavio's speed and power in the beta version thank you @CooperCurse

The final version is SO much better than the prototype one! I don't think I would've been able to take that one too seriously!

I really like both designs! Just different vibes.

It’s interesting how the Guru’s paint was a light grey color instead of yellow, and his ears seemed to be lighter than the rest of his body.

So I was guessing that sly would of been the one knocked out and Bentley was going to help you fight Octavio? honestly I like that better. Bentley proving to Murray that he doesnt blame him for Clock-la, and returning the favor for helping him get out of Clockwerk's mouth

Nope, the Final is from PS2. They for some reason changed it in the HD collection for similar, what was on the Prototype.

@@CooperCurse About two years late to this, but the chat room is in the NTSC version of Sly 3 on PS2. This seems to be a PAL change that was reverted when The Sly Collection rolled around.

Interesting how in the prototype the cutscene after the Octavio battle shows Sky injured instead of Bentley. Were their roles originally reversed in that fight? Was Octavio originally supposed to knock out sly and was Bentley supposed to pump the tar during the fight?

Sly disguise for getting on the airline looked a lot like the Postal Dude. Not sure if that was intentional or not.

I've always thought that Sly 2 band of thieves should be called Sly 2 honor among thieves because it's a lot about honor and Sly 3 honor among thieves should be called Sly 3 band of thieves because it's all about getting together a bunch of thieves together
