SLP Super Silent Muffler sound difference from stock exhaust.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Before and after of my slp exhaust.
After taking the rzr for a ride, the sound difference is day/night on the trails! I imagine the manufacturer is taking db level readings in cab vs out the back by the exhaust. In the cab I can hold a conversation now, hear my tires and suspension working etc. Makes the machine very enjoyable!

If you close your eyes and just listen its sounds like the difference is huge. Although your not registering a dif on the decibel readings i can hear a distinct difference. . I like the silent machines as the loud ones get us kicked off of any trails we are riding usually.

Yes should have loved it up to like 3,000 RPMs or something in with both stock and SLP to see the difference but thanks for the test I'll probably just get a stock OEM muffler

Any power difference? Or increased heat?

Decibel meter apps on the phone are not a good way to test these things. Also the 2nd one was much quieter on the lowend, but similar on the high end (based on what i could gather from your video audio) also - shouldve revved it to really test it. anyways glad to hear it worked out for you. what company did you buy this from?

I know your post is 3 years old, but ... The standard measure that law enforcement uses is with the engine at 1/2 red line RPM or use and alternate chart based upon engine size, sound meter 20 inches back from the exhaust and 45 deg to the side of the exhaust outlet and an open area. That wouild be interesting to see what effect the mod has.

Yeah, you really got to rev it up some to hear the sound at higher RPMs with both exhaust , wish you would have done that....

5db difference? WTF! How come it is so hard for me to find an actual muffler that is silent ? The muffler makers are laughing their way to the bank.

5dB is a pretty big difference. A drop in 10dB would equal to half the original volume.

^what he said, dB is measured almost in multiples and isn't measured by additive means.

@@BG-bx4ey 5 db is a pretty big difference if in fact there was a 5db difference. The SLP Super Silent Muffler is a joke

Yeah at idle it was roughly the same. When driving down the road it was much better than the stock exhaust

What you don't realize is that 1dB on the gauge is twice the last. So...75dB is twice as loud as 74dB, 76dB is twice as loud as 75dB and so on. That's why when you get up in the 90's and on it is really exponential. Also, you need to test the pipes at a higher rev, testing on idle shows nothing.

An increase of 10dB is double the volume, FYI.

I read somewhere that a small muffler helps a lot. Like a compact car or small truck muffler like you did. Do you still like it? Has it impacted your power at all? I'm thinking about doing it on my Polaris sportsman 570. It's loud as hell!

As long as it's not to big and you support, and weld it proper, stock v8 mufflers are built for a large displacement motor, have larger intake and outlet pipes as well as way more volume and baffles internally which make for really quite tone, I had zero power loss because their is very little back pressure and huge flow.
