Following you from Switzerland where homeschooling is not popular. I'm doing it anyway and your channel has been very encouraging thank you!

That is awesome! I love hearing that this channel is reaching people in places where it's hard to homeschool or where few people are doing it. So glad this has encouraged you!

I'd love a snapshot of what each age group does for school. As in what's on their checklist daily and which curriculum you use for them. So true on math....were hitting my limit at 4th grade math. 😅

Good idea! I'll make a note and think about doing something like that for a future video. Thanks for the idea! Math...haha!

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I have 5 kids and so many worries about if im doing enough, are my big kids missing out, is my middle kid ever going to learn to read etc. Time to slow down. Atmosphere is so key.

I relate to having all those fears at one time or another. It can be a struggle to keep perspective! In the end, yes, the family atmosphere is what really matters.

Thank you so much! That is the picture study page from my Simple Morning Time Notebook. ourlifehomeschooling.com/simple-morning-time-notebook/ Instead of having a list of picture study prints that we plan to do, I like to have the kids write down the titles as we do them. It helps them take ownership of each piece and it makes it more personal.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It is always motivating, and I feel ALWAYS inspired after watching your videos. Would you be able to share your favorite family movies, please? Maybe you can may a separate video about the top 10 cgristian family movies ? Thank you so much for all you do! Your work is fruitful 😇🙏

Thank you for your encouragement! I would like some Mom advice if you could. I noticed your little one has a pacifier. My daughter just turned 4 years this week and she still uses a pacifier at night to fall asleep. I’ve tried to talk to her many times about how it’s time to let it go but she just can’t yet. She wants to but when it is time for bed she changes her mind. I don’t want to take it away without her making the decision because it helps comfort her. I’m afraid if she continues to use it for too long that it will misshape her mouth. She does not take a nap or use it during the day. She only uses it at night. What is your opinion, one mom to another? Please share your wisdom with me. Thank you once again 😊

We've had 5 kids with pacifiers so far. We just took them away at some point. For two we did it at once when one was just 3 and the other 1,5 years old. We don't make up stories like a fairy has taken it. Just say it as it is, you're now old enough plus it's not good for your teeth to use it too long. You could think about giving some kind of gift. Be prepared for a few hard days, so better do it when you're not too stressed yourself, so you can handle some extra crying or have time and nerves to comfort the child. Throw all pacifiers away, don't keep any for backup or you'll be tempted to go back to it. Your child will survive it. It's part of growing up. At some point nursing stops, sleeping with parents stops etc. Sometimes it comes naturally but if not you as parents might have to make it happen. I'd definitely help my 4 year old to get rid of the pacifier. Generally, the sooner the better. Never be afraid of a child's reaction if you know something is good for them in the long run. Wish you all the best!

You're so welcome! It looks like you've gotten some good answers from others! I usually take the pacifier away from our kids around age 2, but I guess I've gotten a little looser in my older age, ha! She loves her "binky." It's a comfort for her, even though it's only for bedtime. She's almost three, so we'll probably take it away some time soon. I't so hard for them to lose that comfort!

So do you do Ambleside as written for all of your children or do you just pull books from the book list that you want to read?😊

  • @OurLifeHomeschooling

Great question! I have a list of my favorite books from Ambleside that I like to do with each of the kids. I have used AO from the start. I didn't pick because it seemed like a good curriculum for multiple kids or a large family. (We only had three at the time.) I picked it because I absolutely loved it. I did a video about how we make it work with multiple kids. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJ-pr8SJaLLPdcY.htmlsi=Xho8DUN105YOiUg9 You can also read the blog post to see the list all my must-read AO books. ourlifehomeschooling.com/2023/04/20/ambleside-online-homeschool-curriculum-for-a-large-family/ I hope that answers your question!

What would you do for first grade (if that child was your oldest and you had a four yr old and one yr old)?

I would read aloud frequently and do a little math, reading, and writing practice daily. No more than an hour a day. Lots of free play and time outside.
