Slow Boat Day | St. John's River Florida

Howdy fellow adventurers, in this episode Wavey and I spend a hot day slowly making our way back to Palatka. it was only 7 miles or so, but when you're stuck on slow and stopping to fish, that takes all day ;)
We're trying out a new phone. the old Galaxy s7 I've been using for years just hasn't been cutting it. I'm looking for feedback.

I would have grabbed the cast net off the swamped boat if it was not tore up. A cast net is a good tool for catching bait. Looks like a lot of fun. If there's crabs there then there is probably red fish, flounder and speckled trout. Red fish are very easy to catch as long as you have some tide moving. A dead shrimp or a half crab near the shoreline. Speckled trout don't bite on dead shrimp as much. Live shrimp with a slow retrieve or under a float or plastic baits with a fairly fast retrieve in some fairly clear water. I bet there's some big garfish there. One of those brim a foot or two under a float with some good strong line, a good pole and a large net to boat them with. Cleaning garfish is a little tricky the first few times. Good luck. Thumbs up

Bone-picking derelicts can be a transfer of bad karma. Another thing to consider, everything you take of value makes the boat less rescuable. Finally, that you had to ask the question means that it is within the realm of wrong. Don't burden your soul is a good rule.

I'd love to have that steering wheel for my boat.... Nice new camera. How was the crabbing? It is possible to salvage parts from abandoned boats in Florida, but you should be aware that there are specific laws and regulations that govern the salvage of abandoned boats in the state. In general, it is illegal to salvage or remove parts from a boat without the permission of the owner or the person who is responsible for the boat. If you wish to salvage parts from an abandoned boat in Florida, you should contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to obtain permission and ensure that you are following the proper legal procedures. The FWC can provide you with information on the specific laws and regulations that apply to boat salvage in Florida, and they can help you obtain the necessary permits and approvals.

unfortunately there are no vessel salvage rights in FL, legally it seems you cant touch a wrecked or abandoned boat regardless of how long its been there. for years ive seen perfectly good sail boats go to waste in the ICW. only way to touch it is to go through FWC and try and get the title for it. a costly and time consuming process.

@@backwatersandbackroads Alligators Although most Floridians have learned to live with alligators, the potential for conflict exists. It is rare that an alligator attacks a human but a few precautions should be observed. Don’t feed or harass alligators. Not only is this act illegal, but over a period of time, the alligator will lose its fear of humans and become dependant on us as their food source. Never approach an alligator closely. They are quite agile on land. Don’t swim outside of posted swimming areas, especially in the areas that large gators live. Be sure to check the area for large gators prior to swimming. Don’t swim after dusk/dark. This is the time most alligators actively feed. Avoid thick vegetation areas as this is the area a gator is most likely to call home! Don’t dump fish scraps into the water or on the shoreline. This will attract gators. Don’t allow your dog to swim in areas that are known to harbor large gators. Be aware of your surroundings and use common sense. If you encounter a nuisance alligator please contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at (352) 732-1225
