This is perfection. Love the lyrics and how they are based off of folklore/history and in the same way how it blends folk and modern perfectly, her vocals are flawless, her styling is incredible, she is such an incredible performer and I feel Ike the song was tailor-made for her, she has a sort of captivating enigma about her which I love, I love the lyrics and their message, the instrumental is incredible and captivating, I love how the aesthetic of the entry represents the message and story of the song to a tea, I love that this song wasn’t made for Eurovision and how it is just so obvious in everything around the song, I love how this song just captivates you from start to finish, the progression of this song is perfect, I love those operatic high notes that she does in the climax, the progression is perfect and I love how it doesn’t follow a certain formula with its creation that you’d expect in pop music nowadays. The visuals in the video are also incredible and if that is transported onto the stage it will be perfect. I have no big issues with this song, despite the song having no clear hook in the chorus but I really don’t feel like that is the point of a ballad. A ballad is meant to be a full-on experience that captivates you and invites you into its aura and this song does that perfectly (you are probably going to hear that with one of the songs in Germany’s (not going to tell you which one it is yet even though it does have more of a hook that gave me pretty much the same reaction to this song). And yeah this will do so much better than last year’s entry even if it was incredible (bad running order and the “over-saturation of rock in general in the final last year was to blame for sure for their result, not the song or the staging) and tis can’t be compared to anything. They will recognise that this is a quality entry in the semi as it is very much an art piece and not merely a song. The song is very well-written as well and the staging will be incredible and I have faith that this will do well. This could easily do the victory. The song, the possible staging concepts, the visual concepts in the video, Raiven’s experience as an artist and her vocals and the lyrics especially scream winner to me. It is way too early to predict this but I bet when all the songs are released I get a good aura with this that this will win. It feels kind of like Portugal 2017 (funny you mentioned that in the video) being a song that is not typical for ESC but just worked incredibly on the night to make people shut up and watch and vote for it many times. The juries and televote will love this and I could easily see this win in this universe. It is easily a 10/10 for me. It is barely my winner so far with France hot on its heals and it may even be my overall winner of this year but I can’t predict anything as of yet as there are still many songs to come.

She has a masters degree in singing Opera, so I'm not concerned about the live. Would agree that some of the success of this song in the competition will depend on staging though. Oh! Fun fact: Bojan helped write this 🙂

While we don't have bug bucks per say, Raiven has said they've been planing the staging from the second she's known she was going. They already have the dancers and the creative team and she almost won 3 national finals all with great vocal and stage performances so I don't think this will translate as badly as most would expect based on out teack record

Dancers are true ballet dancers...so is choreography done by a ballet choreographer....And Raiven is also an opera singer. And behind this song is true medieval love story from 15th century, Veronika was prosecuted for witchcraft, acquitted, but later tortured and drowned. Her husband was count Frederick II. and he never remarried. Frederick's father was behind the whole tragedy.

I am from Slovenia 🇸🇮. The song is inspired by real historical events. Veronica Deseniska was the first girl accused of witchcraft in the 15th county in slovenia. But in fact, she was just an innocent 16-year-old girl who came from a poor background, but was in love with a married Graff Karel the second blue blood. Then she was drawn and killed in Lake Celje to get her out of the way. 🏳️🌈 hope we hit top 5. Thank you for such an honest reaction ❤

Veronika was from a knightly family, but Frederick's father preferred Frederick's first wife, which was 6 years older than his son and after a good decade of marriage they lived separately- She died in not clarified circumstances. Than he met Veronika....and everything worked against this true love....

About song Veronika (to maybe understand this drowning, bodies and all the water more): The story of the love between Count Friderik II and Veronika of Desenice is one of the greatest love stories in Slovenian history. He was the son of a powerful ruler, while she was a rural noblewoman. Their love was so strong that nothing could stop it. Rumour has it that Frederick II of Celje, son of the mighty Count Herman II, had a hand in the death of Elizabeth of Frankopan, his first and legal wife. Contrary to his father’s will he secretly married Veronica of Desenice immediately afterwards. Because of this, his father had him imprisoned in the main tower, where he spent over 4 years and where, according to a legend, he wanted to starve him. Meanwhile, after being acquitted in the first witchcraft process in Slovenia initiated by this sly old Count, Veronica was drowned. Herman II accused unfortunate Veronika of being a witch who had cast a spell on his son and he was 100% sure that's why his son killed his first wife and married Veronika. I'm Slovenian and I'm soooo proud of Raiven (her real name Sara Briški Cirman). She is fenomenal artist, musician, (opera) singer, and excellent harpist. I love her and her capacity of knowledge of music. She is really next level artist. Go RAIVEN 🤍

I like the concept, but the lack of melody makes this a NQ for me. I feel like people are somewhat blinded by the visuals (which are cool) and their hype for Raiven as an artist. Amazing voice and talent - wish the song was better.

My prediction Strength : strong vocalist, beautiful artistic music video, not in English Weakness: forgettable song, is more a jury pleaser than televoting. If she ends up in a SF with several strong female singers with ballads or power ballads this will be forgotten and will end up like Georgia 2023. If she ends up in a SF with uptempo songs, with an insane staging I see her qualifying but borderline. If she reaches the finals I can imagine that she will get a good jury result but poor televoting. And end up around the 17th -19th place.

I wonder all the hype this song gets. I do not particularly like it, even if I recognise the quality of the visuals. It is probably the lack of melody that spooks me. Because of the backstory, I would like to love this song.
