That MP though! 🥰 what a way to end from Sloane. This was one of the matches I was looking forward to most yesterday and it truly did not disappoint. Daria played well too, I can see she is trying to be more aggressive. They are both such fluid players, lovely well fought match.

Given her natural talent, Stephens is probably one of the biggest underachievers in the game - right up there with Pliskova. If only she would hustle - like she did here during this match.

To be honest.... her other issue is not being aggressive enough. Way too many shots hit back in the vicinity of her opponent. If you can get your feet set it needs to be down the line or cross court for an attempt at a winner.... period.

Sloane is kinda like the Mary Pierce of her day, when she's on, watch out b/c she can (and will) take down anyone, but if she's not locked in? She can lose to ANYONE. Surprised to see Kasatkina have such mental lapses as usually she's so tough and will fight for every point and Sloane is the one that usually goes away in matches. I'm surprised she didn't go away after the first set. Usually if it's close and Stephens loses the first set you can almost guarantee the next set will be pretty routine. Really glad for her. Also did ya'll clock that diamond necklace?! That is REAL. werq!

Good point…as a matter of fact Sloane has just slightly more offense in her game than Daria. So seeing these two play against one another, Sloane will naturally be the more agressive due to the amount of junk balls Daria will employ. Daria game was fun to watch in her short-lived prime, but now it’s boring, predictable and beatable.

Yes a few years ago that forehand on the run was probably one of the best, if not the best ,on the wta tour. She is still a very dangerous player for anybody on her good days but unfortunately she's passed her peak...playing her best tennis for 7 matches in a row is way beyond her reach...Still I love her style of play ,the way she moves smoothly around the court. Superb athlete for sure.

view, Miss Sloane Stephens is not strong and powerful in her game. She is too weak to impose psychological fear on her opponents and beat them. She is not aggressive and she cannot dictate her laws to her opponents. Miss, it's not at the end of the match that you should roar, but rather during the match that you should show your opponents the lioness in you.

Eight years ago, I saw Sloane Stephens play Ana Ivanovic in person. Boringest match ever. This one might take second place. Hard to know which of the minority pushers to root for, LGBT or black. Good for Sloane, I guess, but she is looking a little porky, and sustained winning is not her thing these days. Expect someone to run her off the court eventually.
