Most informative video on this I've seen so far, really helped me out! Especially the section where you talked about the volts; I live in europe, so the amp has almost 27 times as many volts as the pedal has, which indeed convinced me to buy the real thing, even if it's a tad more expansive... Great review! I received my Soldano pedal yesterday and I’m only slightly disappointed that it didn’t come with a handle. The SLO-100 was atop my list when I started chasing tone down the rabbit hole earlier this year. I decided to go with the Friedman BE-100 deluxe and Mezzabarba Trinity 100 instead based on the information that was available online. The bad thing about most of the pricey amplifiers is they are hard to find in a store to try out in person.

Very nice comparison! They got so close with the pedal, as I see, the little knobs and footswitch, but still nothing like the real amp...

Best review ever!!! None of these boring sound examples! I always hate them, because if I buy a product it is always the same: my stuff sounds bad - but in YT the guy got cool stuff out of it. Hmmm. Is it me? As an engineer, I really like the idea to focus on the really important stuff. And who cares how it sounds, anyway. Buy it, put it in storage (keep the original package) and watch another pedal video - Repeat... Thanks, this is a benchmark for all other gear channels 🙂

This has really ignited the GAS for the new SLO pedal for me! 🥵

I just came from a famous store channel. The guys there at some point made a direct comparison between the pedal and the amp. The result was the same as what you showed, they don't sound the same. Not even close. I was so shocked they still said right away that they sound the same!

The Slo actually has 2 channels on it- a lead channel and a crunch channel- the guys at Anderton's were able to get this pedal to sound very similar to the crunch channel on the slo. It wasn't perfect but it was at least 90% accurate. Considering the pedal and the amp were run through two different cabs, for all we know that's where that 10% difference came from- very possible had they been run through the same cab it may have sounded even closer. That said- they're never going to sound identical and give you all the same options- if they did that why would anyone ever buy another SLO100 amp? The last thing they want to do is make the real amp obsolete. It costs over 4gs- this pedal runs a little over 200 bucks so- you have to be realistic.

Don't forget the amp has a nice black grill and the pedal doesn't. This alone convinced me to buy the amp.

A distortion pedal isn't an Amp... Don't know why some people believe that they can get a good amplifier for about 230€... The distortion pedal (super lead overdrive) sounds very good and gives a touch of that soldano amplifier sound. I will use it for some lead sounds. 🤘🙃

Hi Henning - The thing about a Soldano clone pedal is that it's a bit similar to a Dumble one. I've never seen or heard a Soldano amp live and very few people have. KZread videos are totally useless and albums don't help much either cos of production, EQ, and multiple amp voicings used. Sooo what is the Soldano SLO tone ? No one can showcase it on youtube. It sounds great from what I've heard but also seems similar to many Mesa Boggie amps. And if people don't know what the classic Soldano SLO tone is how can they know if this pedal does a good job of cloning its tones?

The guitar player you can't reveal is gold! haha.

You got paid for this? Gotta respect the hustle ✌️

@@JohnWiku I know, I have the 1gen one. Awesome pedal but it doesn’t give the amount of gain the amp or this one does. The 2nd gen sounded much closer to the gain the amp gives. I was hoping for a revision of that but we ended up getting something much more simple to put it mildly. ;-)

That is so German. :D Laughed out loud way too many times. Would not bother with only 2 jacks, though. For me it is 7 jacks or BUST! Thank you for this Henning!

The lack of weight and size of the knobs are truly disheartening

I have one & it's an awesome drive! It gets closer than any pedal out there, that tries to imitate the SLO 100. Henning isn't using it properly to get the proper tone.

Personally I never bought into the slo100 hype. That said, I have no doubt it's a very nice amp. I'm just in a different direction with my Marshalls and very happy with them. I like the power amp/speaker cab mojo too much to mess with a good thing.

I plugged the pedal into my speaker cab…sounds just like the amp.

if this channel was not a gear review channel, this video would be hilarious. During first two minutes I was annoyed but after that I started laughing. believe me, just give it some time :))))

Knob Sizes matter...less weight less resistance thus less tone brah 😂🍻🤘

In spite of the deadpan humour, this video is a glass of ice-cold water in the face of the BS about this and similar pedals ostensibly designed to emulate expensive amps. Danke Henning, Sie sind der Hammer!

One thought that this video brings up for me though How come the clean amp guys get those sweet UAFX/Walrus/Strymon small form factor modellers and we get distortion pedals ? Doesn't seem entirely fair hahaha
