Slipknot at Download 2009 is generally regarded at one of the greatest metal gigs of all time. If for no other reason than it was the last time the original nine members played the UK, their spiritual home. It's the metal equivalent of Radiohead's iconic gig at Reading in '97, which indie rock boffins cream over to this day.

I saw Slipknot during their debut year (1999) at Ozzfest, and I wasn't ready for them. I couldn't stand it! All I heard was all kinds of screaming and growling, and these weird creepy people with masks on. I didn't like it at all. Over time, my tastes have changed and developed, and I now have an appreciation for what they do. Their music has also matured and just keeps getting better. Now, I cannot wait to go see them in concert, and I'm sad that I missed them recently. It's on my bucket list to "jump the fuck up."

i was there!!! Download is the biggest metal festival in the UK & that was the highlight of 3 days. I believe this was the year before their bassist passed away so the next time they came back it was like a massive memorial to him. The metal community is one of the most welcoming & friendly there is, if a guy goes down in the pit next to you, you pick him up, dust him off & throw him straight back in.
