    We all know about the Jimny’s capabilities, but the Dacia did better than I expected!

    Simple but great test really shows their capabilities. They are different cars and the Jimny is a proper off-roader and it did as expected but the Duster proved to be a fantastic and capable car. I would say both are unbeatable for the money.

    For the price, Duster actually did very well on this test. Remember is a under 20k € car. It acts better than its competition. Jimny is an veritable off road car not an SUV. IT IS normal to act better.

    @Sam K if you mean the 1.2 tce engine yeah, it had some problems but the 1.6 sce and 1.5dci where as reliable as any Suzuki engine.... don't forget that Duster 4wd has a starting price under 17.000€....no Suzuki with 4wd(and the fully automatic all grip system from Ignis and Swift doesn't count) costs under 18.000...and a month or so ago, Duster has a new engine, 1.3 tce 130 and 150hp.....

    @@euunitedwestand1471 Suzuki ain't using Renault diesel engines for years. Back then it was the most unreliable part in Jimny and Grand Vitara.

    4x4 tests on rollers - duszaniespokojna channel they used fiat and Renault . Renault it’s very good engine. Now they use 1.5 petrol only. Jimny it’s more a myth than something woowww..

    @@euunitedwestand1471 1.5 dci is very good engine now. But it wasn't when Suzuki was using it in previous Jimny. And 1.9 dci in Grand Vitara was even worse. Jimny is not any myth. That's an offroader, nothing mystic about it.

    It is not necessary to do such a test with the new Jimny. Everybody knows that no one can beat him! The greatest Offroader ever built!

    Hifi Lounge: its not self evident, because the jimny have no mechanical axle diff locks. It pass this test only with a well developed brake engaging, which simulates diff locks. It works well, no doubt, but you can't expect that from the outset

    @@b.s.7693 Yes you're right and I know it. It's not a G-Class and not a Pajero with 100% axle lock diffs, but it works very well! The Jimny is quite a great little offroader. Most offroad Fans know about that how good the new Jimny is.

    I'm not sure the purpose of the video is to show that the jimny will beat the duster, we already know that the jimny is a better off-road car, but still the duster did a good job, maybe the best SUV 4x4 with the Subaru. I prefer the duster as for my personal use for off-road it's enough, news AT tires will be necessary. The jimny is really a small car, more a 2 seats car then 4 when u got some camping stuff to carry, for long distance not as confortable as the duster. So I think it depend of the needs of the Bayer, both of them are great cars !

    I have had both cars, the Jimnys 4x4 is superb off road but it is noisy and fidgety at high speed due to its short wheel base and suspension setup. The 4x4 system on the Jimnys can only be used if there is some slippage in the wheels to avoid transmission wind up. Unless there is snow on the ground it is difficult to use 4x4 in bad weather on the tarmac. However the Duster has a Nissan derived 4x4 system which can be used on the tarmac without damage, the Duster is far better on the road and quite capable off road but not as good as the Jimny. They are both great cars but both of them are built to do very different tasks.

    This is only really a demonstration of the effectiveness of the traction aids on each vehicle, in the real world your tread pattern, tyre size and pressure and the amount of wheel articulation are bigger factors in whether you will be getting stuck or not. If the rubber is on the surface and gripping it will matter more than electronics.

    thanks, since you have tested so many cars, do you think modern traction control systems have approached the level of mechanical diff locks (when having both rear and front)

    No, definitely not. Traction control systems are doing great job but nothing can replace diff lock in situations when it is really needed.

    Both are on my shopping list but do I go offroad deep in the bush with no supplies or do I go half as far with things I need. Maybe just get a hilux or isuzu double cab.... And I can carry timber and rubble when I need to.... No one vehicle here is better than the other as each is for a different purpose....

    New generation of x-mode (dual x-mode) is available only in new Forester, which didn't arrive to my country yet. But it won't change much, new additional function is in fact the same as X-MODE ON with VDC OFF.

    They are simply called rollers. And they are extremely expensive, so it's better to diy. Two last generations of Jimny were tested, so why would you need them? :)

    @@4x4.tests.on.rollers Good point lol. I would of enjoyed testing them, you know...... finding out where the revs need to be at, in order for the brake actuated LSD to kick in. Or maybe you could tell me where the swèet spot is at. 1250 RPM or 1500 RPM ...... ETC, ETC....... Thank you kindly for replying!! 🙏🙏👍👍🌝🌝😎😎👀👀

    @@bigjimnycub9582 Oh I don't remember rpm :( The two oldest videos of previous Jimny were recorded with additional dashboard view, so you may see the speed and rev there but that traction control system ain't the same as now. Although it works very similar at low gear.

    Hope the Duster fans will finally realize that while the Dacia is capable in soft off road conditions (like most street SUV's today), it is not nor ever will be a serious off roader like the Jimny, Land Rover and other "real" off-road vehicles.

    Not a fan of the Duster but also not a fan of the test! You compare a car meant to be just an off roader with a suv w8th off roading capabilities. If you want to test them head to head, test everything. Dacia is cheaper, Jimny is more expensive. Dacia has more place for passengers and luggage, Jimny can barely fit 4 people, and maibe a small handbag for all of them. Dacia while cheaper, is better equipped then Jimny is. Yes, the Jimny is the cheapest off roader you can buy if you live in the wild, and if you dont need that much space or comfort. And the Dacia is the cheapest, new suv, that can also do good in harsh conditions. But nowadays, almost every place has a road you can drive on. Now using this test, why not test the Jimny vs a Land Rover? Where it will fail. Or how about....the Jimny vs an entry level helicopter? I bet the Jimny cant fly... If you didnt understand my sarcasm, what i'm saying is that these two are amongst the cheapest brand new, but both of them were designed for diferent purposes. Therefore where one excels, the other lacks. Simple as. And I bet the Jimny is

    Both cars are very often taken offroad, that is why I compared them. And Duster is very often overrated in terms of its offroad abbilities, although it is the best offroad suv/crossover. PS. I compare only 4wd/traction control systems, no other features.

    Range Rover bought the 4x4 concept from an old romanian 4x4 car called ARO, after the company was bankrupt they sold it to Range Rover for 100.000 £, so thats why you've got such a nice grip and traction 😉

    I don't get what the problem is, at the end the Dacia passes every test with esp off and it does it even in a smoother way. Off Road the Jimny has its percs, but overall the Dacia will win. And even offroad it might be better (depending the surface)

    +1, z tymi rolkami to dobrze trafiłeś do badania możliwości off-roadowych, 1:55 to ten sam test? widać jak Suzuki zeskakuje bokiem tak nim rzuca, ale zdecydowanie widać że Suzuki ma najlpese właściwości off-roadowe póki co i dlaczego Ducia Duster często nie daje rady w terenie, na trzech rolkach Ducia ma spore problemy

    Tak, to ten sam test, ale tu jest w trybach 4H i 4L (poprzednio było tylko 4L). Nowy Duster też daje radę, trzeba go tylko odpowiednio ustawić (Lock, ESP off).

    Na rolkach daje radę ale w praktyce te trudności właśnie się objawiają tym że się zakopuje w piachu bardzo szybko. Czym różni się 4H i 4L?

    @@NiceTubeAccount 4H to zapięty na sztywno napęd na cztery koła. 4L to reduktor oraz zmiana działania kontroli trakcji (pełna aktywacja Brake LSD Traction Control).

    chodziło mi o różnicę w praktyce, jak w takim przypadku rozkłada się napęd na koła jeśli tylko jedno ma przyczepność (czyli 3 rolki), widać że przy 4L trzeba dać więcej gazu

    @@NiceTubeAccount Widzę, że nie bardzo wiesz, ja działa reduktor, więc naprawdę ciężko będzie cokolwiek wytłumaczyć :/ Reduktor nie ma wpływu na rozdział momentu, tylko na jego wartość.

    so if you find yourself very often in a parking lot, on a bunch of rollers, the JIMNY is the car for you! if you want a car that can accommodate you, your family and all of your luggage, that has more than decent off-rod capabilities, costs less than a entry level Skoda Octavia and doesn't look like a brick, you might just go for the Duster!

    @@cristiandemirel1918 in al fairness it's cheap for a reason. Just look at the base engine and transmission. Also no ac, no infotainment and virtually no safety kit as standard. If you add all that the price will go up to the point that you're better off buying a car from a proper brand instead of restyled 90's Renault tech. Give me a Vitara over this all day every day

    @@drumpuppy2000 you lost me at "infotainment". Sure, a Vitara is better, but if you load that up with options, you can buy another car, and so on... What's great about the Duster is that you can get a cheap one and use it as a second car, just like a Jimny, most people who own a Jimny also own another car. The advantage the Duster has over the Jimny is that you can use it for longer trips, while the Jimny is a pain to drive on the highway more than a few km.

    Only few words. How and why you compare two cars so different in weight and dimensions? There are not point of contact. I have a Duster II. It's cheap... But it works fine in a lot of conditions. There are many other test on rollers in which Audi Q5 or Kia Sportage makes a terrible trial. Both cars don't have a real ELD. These car are not cheap. And you can't use it in offroad. Not even in light offroad. Duster (The chapest!) works in an incredible way, like an heavy duty vehicle. The Duster is the cheapest, but not the worst. It works (almost) like a Qashqai.

    Duster and Jimny are very often taken offroad (although the Duster is not a real offroader), that is why they are compared.

    It's not big enough for most people who buy pseudo SUVs just to bully smaller vehicles. It would be a great second car for offroad enthusiasts, but as a speciality vehicle that can't carry more than four, it will tank. Even the Duster AWD has very few buyers.

    dust is not tru-4x4 but jimni is - and comparison is stupid. duster's gonna burn from slipping in the mud (overheating the frictions), but Jimmy's made for it. The Jimny have limited slip differential, not only electronics moving moment. Jimmy is an SUV that doesn't break, but duster is a one-off car if you drive in a swamp.

    I did. And actually new Jimny is quite surprising in this matter. But this is the test of awd systems, not cars in general.

    Dacia Duster is great and really affordable car. Now we also have Duster and we are also using out for some 4x4 movies.

    Just dont like the look of the Jimny. Maybe would have looked ok in 1980, but not nowadays. Can't fault the off-road though.

    I had a Jimmy,brand new...decent car,but,God it was ugly...and no space,big shopping...forget it! Did well on sand dunes tho’...
