If you had to do it over would you have gone with a 916is?

Nice build! Why not install the gps antennas on top of the glare shield, under the windscreen? Keeps the drag down and keeps the wires shorter.

We followed Garmin’s instructions for best mounting points. We also got feedback from other builders and Midwest Panel Builders that the airframe will sometimes shadow the antenna and cause signal loss at certain bank angles when they are installed inside. I think the drag from those small antennas is probably minimal.

I don't understand why anyone designs for sheet and rivet these days instead of composite. It must be so much easier to just make one piece. And carbon fiber can be plenty stiff in just a thin double curved shell with no stringers or frames. Also hard to beat for weight. But it seems Sling is moving to composites.
