    The biggest flaw of Slimming World - 'Free Foods'. It's just calories in vs calories out. Good video, very informative.

    I'm more of a low carb fan myself but the appeal of slimming world is that you don't have to faff about with weighing and measuring to track calories, which becomes tiresome pretty quickly. It's aiming at improving food choices long term from what I've read. Most diets work short term but for something to have long term success it has to be sustainable, and calorie counting is no way to live. I think the good part of this program is that it encourages people to cook real whole foods and to fill up on veggies and other lower calorie foods. I also like The fact there's no excluding food groups, so it's less likely to trigger binges. Yes we all know potatoes and pasta aren't calorie free, but if you're someone that regularly over eats on high calorie processed foods, this plan will help with weight loss even if you eat a few too many spuds here and there. I think their inclusion of 'speed' foods can help if people aren't getting the results with the 'free' foods. The downside is that it's low fat so not ideal for female fertility or hormone balance. Ultimately you have to find what weight loss method suits your lifestyle long term.

    I tried slimming world about 20 years ago. I lived on the free foods literally nibbling all day and lost 7st in 7 months. All you have to do is not mix carbs and protein on the same day. I have kept the weight off all these years by dieting through the week and having whatever I want at the weekend. Five days flies by and it gives you something to look forward to every week. Also a bit of walking on my treadmill. All diets will work. The hard bit as you all know is keeping it off.

    I know a few friends who were on this ''Diet''.. It did work but i know exactly why.. The slimming world urge people to come along to their weekly meetings to get weighed and discuss their diet that week. The biggest catch was at these meetings you are being weighed infront of everyone else. This in turn urges people to diet hard as they want to stand on that scale and impress everyone else their.. 2nd part is the person who lost the most that week would be given a goodie bag of fitness bits and healthy snacks. This then made peope diet even HARDER as they want to feel a sense of pride to gain this goodie bag and be the '' best'' that week. I know others who use slimming world and every single one of them do this exact same routine.. They basically starve themself 2 days before their weigh in. One friend would only have 2 low fat yogurts each day before the weigh in (160 calories?) and basically live off of coffee these 2 days. So they know their weigh in will be very low. They all done this btw and admitted it. One friend would throw back laxatives & diuretics the day before this weigh in also.. So the trick for slimming world is these weigh in meetings. They know people want to impress and win these goodies and be the best that week. It's basic human instinct. This is me speaking to people i know who have used this slimming world diet. It's almost like what people do before a bodybuilding competition but on a weekly basis. That's how this ''Diet'' works

    Lee Bell that’s complete bollocks, some idiots might do that before a weigh in, but they won’t last long and will leave. Slimming world works, because it makes you completely over haul the way you eat and your relationship with food. Granted unlimited pasta and potato is not right for everyone, but on your plate a minimum of a 1/3 should be ‘speed’ foods (essentially salad or veg) that’s every plate of food, at every meal time. So your portion size is instantly reduced. Slimming world is a fantastic way to gain your health back and transform your life...

    All of this is dumb but pasta is a clear winner. You could eat your entire daily calorie intake in pasta in one sitting.
