Gordon Parsons, who starts this song "Pub with no beer", composed it. Slim Dusty, Australia's greatest country singer of all time, who then sings, made the song famous. The song is derived from an Australian country pub that American soldiers drank dry in WWII.

My nan married Gordon parsons. Slims best friend. She was with him til the very end. He was a wonderful man with many talents. I’m glad people recognise his achievements
