    I love your videos. You provide all the necessary details. If I might make a technical suggestion. You have a lot of echo in the videos, which I believe could be corrected by using individualized wireless mikes. Thank You for the great videos

    Thanks for the suggestion! We've tried various setups for using wireless mics, but we are not very technically savvy people (we're dancers, after all!) and we couldn't figure out how to make it work with TWO mics. One, we could do no problem. But two, for some reason, massively upped the difficulty.

    Do you mean the back step on count 4 when repeating the Sliding Doors?

  • @charlessmith263
    @charlessmith2634 жыл бұрын

    There is another Sliding Door method that you do not teach which can be acceptably done in gold syllabus (depending on your dancesport federation), where on the first 2-3-4-1, you lead the lady into a quick half spot spin in the RSP, then you do the opposition cucarachas (man and lady - the actual "sliding door" effect), in the second 2-3-4-1, then you do something like an R overturned opening out movement in the next 2-3-4-1, then you separate hold and then there is a solo Alemana for the man and a half spiral for the lady on the last 2-3-4-1, with the return to hand-hold on the last 1 usually in OFP.

    13:31 mark - Tip - if you are not allowed to let go of the R hand on the lady's R hand in the advanced version of the sliding door (depending on federation rules), you can instead let your arm go past the lady's head to behind her neck and then when the lady changes direction, move that man's R arm over the lady's head to get back in sync again so you retain hand hold.

    Hi Charles! Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately that version would not be acceptable in Closed Gold Syllabus competition in the NDCA, which is the main federation in the USA. In order to be within Closed Syllabus guidelines while dancing in any NDCA sanctioned competition, you must maintain hand hold throughout the Sliding Door and you must dance the 4-1 of the second measure with the lady's back step, as we demonstrated in this video. If you were to dance the second measure as an Advanced Hip Twist, that would not longer be "Invigilator Friendly" within NDCA sanctioned competitions. We must dance it as it is described in the ISTD technique books.
