He rocks!! He is better than anybody I've trained with. I remember I trained with this lady in my 20s. She worked on a cruise ship when she was young. every time I went to my lessons. She was dressed in her cruise ship costumes. And she would hold her little dog the whole time. I still laugh about my lessons with her. I think I went because I enjoyed her . I truly learned nothing. But great memories.

The fact that you don't speak in these warm up videos all the while communicating effectively and giving realtime tips is amazing. The way I figure it you either go back after recording and simply out of repeated use, remember what you were previously thinking (basically verbatim) and include the text in the post edit, or you have a script rolling by on an iPad teleprompter, which is used as the source for the text added in post. No matter how it's done, your warm up videos are remarkable and super helpful.

I have found you to be the best vocal coach on KZread. You lead by example and without unnecessary talk. As I am a male, having a male voice leading me on these exercises makes all the difference to me. I am learning so much. I just discovered your videos a week or so ago, but already I hear and feel the difference. I am moving myself from hating my voice and singing out of tune all of my life, to just starting to sing in tune. I never knew how much enjoyment comes from singing. I will be practicing along with a selection of your videos on a daily basis. You are a great teacher.

I am also surprised by the extent of Mark's generosity with the material that he gives so freely and the time and effort he puts into his videos! But when I decided to be coached by Mark, I'd decided on full immersion (Mark's book, videos and 1:1). I know that's what made the huge difference by my 3rd lesson with Mark as well as putting time and effort into practicing, of course. I'd used Mark's videos for several months before my first lesson with Mark but what i thought was good singing was really way off in comparison to having a few lessons with Mark!😄 Although singing's always been my childhood ambition, I still consider myself to be a total novice in all matters relating to singing. As I write this comment, I realise where my inhibitions & insecurities around music/language has come from: my high school music teacher & my parents!!! Music was one of my school options and I didn't understand nor could read music but the teacher focusex on only students who already had those skills. Doh!!!!🤔🙄 He agreed to give me 1:1 lunchtime singing lessons and...didn't show up!!!😒 A few of us dropped music and I took up art instead, which I love. My parents opted to send my sister for dance tuition instead of me getting singing tuition based on the fact that I could get singing tuition at school! Doh! Doh!!!!🤔😫😥 Singing is my number one love! I am a singer! And I'm a gospel singer. I hadn't realised until again, writing this comment, the extent of the pain that I'd locked away all these years surrounding my childhood singing experiences, which brought me to tears! 😥 😓 Though I dabbled with musical plays, the odd choir in and out of church on and off over the years and generally singing at home, I feel that I'm only just starting out on my singing journey!! I'm 56 and I've got a whole lot of very basic vocabulary to learn for starters, now that the blockages have been removed: keys, scales, majors, minors etc etc, in order to be the successful singer that I want to be and should be. My goal and motivation is to be the best singer and performer that I can be so that, in turn, I can lead by example to encourage young girls out there who can't see a way to achieve their singing dream and ambitions. Thanks Mark for providing the space and platform to share (even though sharing my childhood stuff wasn't my original intention here!). Other than serendipity, now I understand better why you're my Coach of choice. I appreciate you Mark 😇🙏🏽😊

Classic ending performed by a classic master. Thank you for the time, Mark. I have to say, I watch other vocal teachers teach, too. Because I am an avid learner and I enjoy gaining as much knowledge as I can apply in my life. One thing Mr. Baxter always hits on is maintaining resonance. It’s very similar to Victoria’s Victorious Vocal tips in Victoria’s lecturing on feeling and maintaining that “ring” of fluid, continuous volume and tone. Simply observing. I like finding these connections. Always curious if Mark has more to say (or has past videos) specifically regarding resonance. I know his “Want a Smooth Voice? Do This Exercise Every Day” really harps on it. I wonder if there are other big ones regarding that “ring” of vocalizing healthily. EDIT: just want to add that I never skip. Talk, please always talk whenever you want, Mark. If fools want to skip out on parts of your videos (and then comment about it, encouraging others to lose out on valuable information), well, they’re going to skip it. The rest of us, however, we absorb all you have to share!

Another amazing video Mark! I was wondering if you have any videos that talk about optimal mouth opening depending on which vowel we are singing?
@voicelessondotcom
Жыл бұрын
There's a lot more than the vowel that determines the position of your mouth when singing. The pitch, volume and timbre also figure into what size and shape resonator is optimal. The good news is that singing is instinctive. The bad news is - so is inhibition! So, it's important that your jaw remain loose to accommodate the wide variety of movements necessary. If you struggle with jaw tension - the first two videos on my shorts playlist can help: kzread.info9KbBHlB9Yso
