I supplied water jetted components for the Storch and knew Nestor and visited his factory near Port Macquarie NSW Australia. I watched Nestor do a flying demonstration for local TV where he managed to fly the Storch backwards ..mild headwind

What a awesome looking plane. With that long wing span. and rolling out so close to the ground. Just WOW!

Great show! Love the camera close-ups/long lens/slomo, well integrated with music and voice. Plus you really have an interesting subject with the Noguess Storch!

Go on Wikipedia to learn more about the Fieseler Storch. Designed in 1936 in Germany. Top British army general Montgomery used a captured Storch as his personnel plane during WW2. The Fi-56 Storch with it's 240hp engine was much bigger than the Piper Cubs with their 60hp engine.
Wow! That Storch is really equipped well ... I noticed on the cockpit tour it even has a restroom just like my STOL 750. (Empty Gatorade bottle!) LOL! Great interview! P.S.: It's very difficult to admit, but that plane looks even funkier than a Zenith STOL 750 - I'm jealous! 🙂

You are very perceptive John!... However, the bottle isn't necessary very often as I can land just about anywhere! 🤠
Hey Bryan, Levi! Awesome clip. That's the way I like to be entertained! I missed Jon this year but the Storch ballanced it a bit. Levi, that left turn almost tipping the ground was a really intense moment to watch. Question: what is really inside the belly tank? Some good old single malt? Moonshine? Average travelling speed of this slow&low wonder would make me wish it would 🤣 Best regards, Klaus Sommer. "Roll rate is lethargic" 🤣

I recognized Levi landing short with full flaps. What is the better way, landing full flaps using additional drag or draging in full flaps and drop it by retract them to 0°?
You’ve never seen a Fieseler Storch before ?! Well…. Check out Kermit, he has one. But this is like a baby Storch 😂😂
One of those weird wings but I love it

I think the flaps were different on the Fiesler.
@LeviNoguess
Жыл бұрын
You are correct sir! The main difference is in the actuation of them. The original had a hand crank and chain similar to a bicycle chain, mine has a lever similar to a Carbon Cub. Also, the original also drooped the ailerons when the flaps were deployed.

Dude.
I saw a post war French built Storch with an exposed _Radial_ engine, it was not pretty.
Ladislao Pazmany build a 3/4 scale replica (Pazmany PL-9) of the Fieseler Storch at about the same time Slepcev build this one, also at reduced scale, and requiring smaller engines instead of the Argus inverted V 240 hp. on the full scale Storch, which incidentally was used to save Benito Mussolini from his mountain fortress.

You can ly slower if you fly into a headwind.
I am sorry to inform you the "background" noisy music is horrible and strongly detracts from your filming of a beatiful aircraft show!!
Didn't this airframe get banned, not being up to par for reasons unknown, the proposed kit was not acceptable to US standards. Thus killing the import of the kit.

History is important to remember.
I love aircraft, I’ve done most things with them. But at 2:00 I’m already bored. What is all that awful noise for? Why are you copying the very worst production styles of the tackiest TV shows? Enough already with this nonsense.

Gary, I'm sorry to hear that. It's only on there because it's built and painted to accurately represent the German WWII aircraft. If you look closely, you can see that I removed the Swastika from one side so that if anyone wants to take a picture of the plane and doesn't want that in the picture it is an option. Also, it is not representative of my personal views or opinions. There are many WWII military aircraft painted in original markings from both the US, Japan, Britain, and even Germany. The German engineers who designed this plane were ahead of their time! 🤠

FYI the cross symbol isn’t Nazi it’s German airforce which dates back to the start of army aviation in the WW1
Get rid of the annoying music.
Why the annoying loud music at the start then during video I am now turning off because of thti
Nazi symbology on a replica. Hmmm curious
When I hear the word "backwoods" I think, general ignorance combined with a fear and hatred of anything different from themselves. The Nazi livery is unnecessary. That, combined the the "good ol' boy" country persona, and he's pretty much telegraphing who and what he is. Nice. It doesn't need all that military badging to still be the interesting aircraft that it is. It's not even original, just a modern copy so the "historical" livery is especially egregious. If you are someone from the South and you speak with an accent, you need to be real careful about how you choose to present yourself. Avoid at all cost anything that might be associated with racism. Like dont be a collector of Nazi memorabilia. That's usually a red flag. I knew a man in North Carolina who was a wealthy business owner and well respected member of the local community. He was also a collector of Civil War and WWII memorabilia. I met him in his office once and there was this stuff everywhere and he was quite proud to show it off but what I realized right away was the emphasis on the Confederacy and the Nazis. He wasnt a collector of war memorabilia, he clearly had a strong fetish for racism and its historical icons. It was so glaringly obvious what he had there, and the office was just the tip of his collection, that it was literally uncomfortable being around so many symbols and touchstones to human evil. So, yeah. People displaying the swastika bothers me. Why do you feel the need? Just let that crap go. Let die, let it be forgotten and let us all find it boring and uninteresting to study and preserve. Stop giving it value.

Howdy Lethgar! Glad you watched the video and I hope that my "good ol' boy" persona actually telegraphed that my real love here is Aviation and sharing that passion. It's a shame that "When [you] hear the word "backwoods" [you] think, general ignorance combined with a fear and hatred of anything different from themselves". Isn't that the definition of prejudice? When I hear the word "backwoods" I think of being out in nature, off the beaten path of highways and crowded streets. Nothing fearful, racial, or culturally divisive at all. Most of the folks I know who love the backwoods are extremely intelligent. I do NOT embrace racism, in any form and in case you didn't notice, I removed the swastika from one side so it can be photographed without it for those who are sensitive to it. Thank you for watching this video. Hopefully, you were inspired by the aviation aspect of the Arkanstol Backcountry challenge! It's a true gathering of amazing people from all walks of life! Blue Skies to you my friend.

@@LeviNoguess Thank you for your considerate reply. However, you can not ignore the realities that I described. Especially with American racism now on the rise in levels not seen since the Civil Rights movement. If you insist on displaying racist iconography I urge you to be aware and cautious of how people, who dont know you, will make assumptions. To assume a person who displays the swastika is racist, is not prejudice, but rather a value judgement based on historical knowledge. It's on you to assure people you are not racist while displaying the swastika. And you did that with me just now, but you know... after the fact. Also, very few racist people believe they are racist. Most southerners believe, so long as they never use the "N" word, they're not racist. Sorry, but it's a little more complicated than that.
@LeviNoguess

@@Lethgar_Smith My final thoughts on this... I believe, like Martin Luther King said in his famous "I have a dream" speech, that everybody should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. I also believe that the current rise in racism is not what it appears. Often times those who vehemently claim to be the victims of racism are themselves racist against those they claim to be victimized by. When they as a group then band together to profess that the other group is against them, the other group then goes against them... thus creating a problem where none may have been. The more we as a people choose to define ourselves by race, the more we divide ourselves by race. I also like the position that the actor Morgan Freeman (a black man) puts forth about racism. He said the best way to stop racism is to stop talking about it. It's a shame that we are still behaving this way in a country that is so bountiful and with so many opportunities for everyone. Thanks for your respect and kind discussion. I think we disagree, but at least we have been civil and that is what makes us great! Blue Skies, Semper Fi, and God Bless! Yee Haww! Let's go flying!

@@LeviNoguess Those are all the typical things that a person who doesnt believe they are a racist says to defend their racism. Racists love to quote black people to defend their racism. I appreciate the cordial tone but your last reply explained it all. Good day!
2 years ago I bought a Slepcev Storch N98ES that was a museum display in Kansas for years then hangar stored for about 7 years in Custer SD. Plane has flown by the original builder with 3 different engines then went to the museum for unknown reasons. After purchase and thorough inspection I've found some minor airframe corrosion and left wingtip damage, possibly from a ground loop. Plane did not have an engine or engine mount and I am still trying to find accurate set of plans. Slepcev was still in business in E. Europe at the start of the pandemic but company hasn't answered emails for several years even though the website was still up. I've tried every way I can think of to contact the company and/or Nestor with no success. I have the plane stored in my shop and I'm removing all the covering even though it was in great condition because I will not fly it until I am sure of the integrity of every last piece and part. I have the original order receipt and the builder's letters to/from Nestor and lots of build pictures but no log book. The kit was shipped to the U.S. in 94 and completed in 98, I think it's one of the first kits shipped here but only Nestor could confirm that. I really want to get this great aircraft airworthy again. I'm in rural central Idaho so lots of places to explore with this bird. If anyone has or knows of a set of the original plans I could sure use them. My plane is painted very similar to Levi's but I plan to go with a simple paint scheme after recovering it. Mine even has a fake machine gun mounted above the rear seat... I am going to delete that. It takes up the rear seat headroom and is unnecessary weight. My biggest challenge is correctly figuring out the new engine mount and correct weight and balance/engine position. I was hoping that an original set of plans would help me in that process.. The original Australian promo video for the Slepcev Storch is on youtube but the video has an obscure name so tough to find. N9EX will fly again!
