Fascinating that the Komatik is lashed together with rope instead of using fasteners. Native technology!

Great video. For replacing the runner material on the Komatik skis, it looks like it only cracked in the curved section where there was no wood backing / supporting it. Maybe add some more plywood to both sides of the ski to support the full width of the runner? Thanks for the link for the build plans. I B-trained a motoalliance single axle atv trailer with one of those pelican snow treks and was able to double fire wood hauling ability using a 660 grizzly to tow them. The trailer and sled had the added bonus of grooming the full width of the trail. Nice to hear that they are durable and will hold up to some abuse. Will eventually need to get tracks for the atv. Last nights dump of snow may have shut down atv travel for a bit. LOL.

Nice info on the sleds, I'd be interested in knowing what size machine your using to haul that much weight, must be a beast. Thanks

We were using a 550cc bearcat WT, though this year we upgraded to a 900cc Skandic WT. The skandic is a beast, and has been an awesome machine!

Great idea with the hitch. I would like to do the same with mine. To reinforce it. Was it one strip of steel in the entire back or was it several steel pieces ? Thank you.

Hi, You mention 1/4" HDP for runners. I too have had trouble keeping runners from cracking and breaking but don't know what HDP is or where to buy it? Can you shed light on that please. Thank you
