It's meant to draw our attention to how similar Meg Ryan and Rosie O'Donnell's characters to Rita Wilson's character. Ryan describes Wilson as a "hoe" to O'Donnell at on point and then immediately admits she seems someone she and O'Donnell would be friends with.

When that statistic came out it was a BFD. Remember this was the era of movies about psychopath nannies and roommates and mistresses. Think it was like a cover story in Newsweek (and it may have been killed by lightning strike) but regardless I think they were making fun of the whole brouhaha around it and collective sigh of relief when it was debunked.

It's a good movie.
All the Dirty Dozen part was improvised by Hanks and then accompanied by Garber. Rita was clueless first because it was not in the script. That's why her face was first like hey what's going on here. 🙂

This scene really triple aced this story, excellent, funny actors (and actres) like an improvised melody by three virtuosos!!
Idk why but i just had to search out for this scene today, thought it was in "You've got mail" first but then i remembered Victor. Enjoyed this scene since i first saw it and still do esp when i feel down.

This has got to be one of my favorite scenes.. maybe of all time
I was 5 years old when this movie came out and it was one of my mom's favorite uplifting movies so I knew like all of the words from a young age. When I finally saw An Affair to Remember, the film she's gushing about, I was like "I finally get what that woman in Sleepless in Seattle was talking about with the movie and the Empire State Building! 😢💔♥️😣"

I saw this movie years ago and this is the only scene I remember so I'd say it was the best scene from the movie.
I love Rita Wilson in this scene. I totally do the same thing, describing some favourite scene from a film to someone who must be inwardly rolling their eyes and wishing I would shut up. But my enthusiasm forces them, in some cases, to be polite. Love the Dirty Dozen description on the men’s part. Point taken.

One of the great moments in modern cinema.
Thank you. I've been looking for this clip for ages.
This is still one of my favorite scenes, every one of them acted it to perfection. So relatable to many men and women. The fact that Rita and Tom are married in real life makes it even better. They'd been married 5 years here but still going strong after 36 years!
Amazing that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have been married over 30 years. That's unusual these days, especially for Hollyweird.

This is a great weird scene. Because I can’t tell if they’re kidding or not and EITHER way it’s hilarious!!! 😂
One of the best clips I ever seen! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The whole hyena thing makes me laugh every time!!😂😂
Me encantaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
Love this 😂 I wonder if anyone told Tom Hanks when he was filming "Saving Private Ryan" in Hatfield (England) that the scene the fellas are talking about was actually filmed 10-15 mins down the road in Elstree Studios???? 😂
If I ever have to tell anyone about the movie Encanto, and espeically about 'Bruno's vantage point' (the crack in the wall)... I'd be EXACTLY like Rita Wilson in this scene, only moreso. Much moreso. She did a fantastic job here. No wonder Tom Hanks fell in love with her.

I miss these moves.
My favorite part is when she brings up the painting out of nowhere. She gives no context about the significance of the painting, so anyone who hasn’t seen the film would have no idea what she’s talking about! 😂
Victor garber is very strong for a 75 year old man
"Its easier to get killed by a terrorist than it is to get married after 40,,, thats absolutely untrue" That line was used twice in this movie so someone likes it.

Haha..one of the best scenes !!
Victor garber is the best leading actor
lol! victor garber is awesome
You know which characters Tom Hanks and Victor Garber played I'm talking about when it comes to this scene? Woody and Master Thundering Rhino crying together over any movie.

MEN! I cried during several movies I watched, and the Dirty Dozen was NOT one of them. (Smile)

How funny is Rita Wilson. 😃😃😃
Ive watched this movie a ton of times but only recently after paying attention to the credits that this scene has Rita Wilson who is actually Hanks real wife.

I've read that the dialogue about the Dirty Dozen was ad libbed.
