This is surreal... I've been following your guitar channel (thank you by the way for the easy to follow guitar lessons) but never realised you've got a unboxing channel. It surprised me to see your face when the video played :D On the mattress, one year and a bit now, how does it feel, is it still springy or do you notice any sag on the foam?

It would be beneficial if you compared it to your old mattress or other big name mattresses.

Hi Annette! When I went in the their showroom they said you can use your own base but for the king size your base should have at least 2 lines of support in the middle like the one you see in my vid. Maybe shoot them an email to clarify :)

Hi Dave how has this mattress held Up over the years?

Had my king for about 2 months now, went with this bed because I was getting bad hip pain from my old mattress, and my now my hip pain has completely gone. I went with the medium firmness also. Fantastic mattress

Now that you've had it for a year, do you still think they're a good mattress? I'm thinking of buying one so I'm curious of what people think of them after several years of use.

@@MaggotDiggo1 yeah I do - it’s still amazing and I’m still having perfect sleeps with it, it’s recommended that you turn it 180 degrees every 3 months I think but I’ve only done that once and it’s still unreal. Can’t recommend them enough.

Do the pocket springs have anything to do with the soft to medium to firm feel? IE:- spring gauge - thinner / thicker springs. Or are the pocket springs the same across all their mattress range and it's all to do with the foam above the springs , to achieve to desired feel??

They all have the same spring base, the only difference is the foam support layer. Which is why you can swap that layer out (either entirely or specific sections) to adjust the firmness. Between different companies though, I'd imagine the spring base might feel different since they all won't be quite the same. The support layer would probably make a much more noticeable difference than the base in terms of feel, though. (I'm not affiliated with Sleeping Duck at all, I've just been doing an awful lot of research into buying a new mattress! I'm currently deciding between the Sleeping Duck, NOA, and Sleep Republic mattress.)

Could you let me know what your final choice is please. PS - I commend you on you writing. You're either good , or you use Grammerly. Lots of people's spelling & punctuation is really bad.

Hi again Heidi, I found a site somewhat like "choice" that appraises bed in a box mattresses. It's bedbuyer.com.au . They put ' sleep republic ' at the top of the list.

Why you didn’t show when you assemble the mattress ?..

If you buy this and use your own base, be sure its a correct base! Otherwise the bed will have major wear and tear.

Hi :) Thanks for the review. I just have 2 questions around the level of heat the mattress generates as there are two foam layers and one latex. I’m a warm sleeper and the only reason I’m hesitant when buying a new mattress is the heat factor. 1. Did you or your gf find the mattress to be warm? 2. Are you able to switch the mattress layers around so that the latex is on the top of the foam? Any info in this area would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

My sleeping duck mattress generates a lot of heat. Wouldnt recommend for this reason.

Never thought of the heat...but I bought a good thick mattress topper at about the same time and haven't noticed any heat issues. I've had mine for 7 years now.

Just wondering how the base has been? Still sturdy? Any movement or squeaking after a year?

Hey Sam! Nah no issues at all! It’s a solid build. I’ve even disassembled and moved and no issues or squeaking

When you put the mattress on the bed, it looked like the left (of the screen) part of the mattress was lower than the right. Did you notice. How is it now?

Hi Lynne, I think that’s just the way the stitching curved a tiny bit making it look like it was lower. It’s definitely the same height all around though :)

It’s great, but I don’t really notice it to be honest. You could use any bed base I just decided it was more convenient to purchase as a package.

@@DTUnboxed I'm considering buying one the end of this week. How do you feel about the bed base? Would you feel the matress would be adequate on the floor? Some people might be put off by that, but my last matress of a few years has been just on the floor. In the daytime I can flip it up and have more floor space in my room. Cheers bra.
